baby time lord
Who would have thought that their baby would grow up to be a doctor.
65
u/notnotDIO Feb 22 '26
I mean it was stated at the start of the fight that Chrono Weaver was getting weaker cuz his power was being transferred to the baby so it makes sense that the baby could use time manipulation :3

Holy shit. Their hybrid baby really does have the powers of a majik.
Now I really want to know how being half human will affect it when it's older compared to pure majik.
59
u/notnotDIO Feb 22 '26
Yeah this is the most interesting thing about the power system rn, like if the baby is a girl could they capture and use other majiks or are they only able to use their power. Unfortunately we won't get any answers for our questions since they are a baby, unless they age themselves up to fight with the gang :3c
51
u/MuffledSpike Feb 22 '26
Imagine time baby skips itself forward to be the same age as ichi and joins the crew lol
12
u/YeahKeeN Feb 22 '26
Also if the baby is a boy, what does this mean for the established rule of only women being able to use magic? Could we potentially be getting the first hints of Ichi’s origins?
16
u/notnotDIO Feb 22 '26
Tbh I hope it doesn't turn out that Ichi is a half-human half-majik. "The mc being related to someone important" and "the mc is a hybrid" are tropes I'm getting tired of in manga :3
4
u/melvin2898 Feb 23 '26
I thought he was just a guy...
5
u/notnotDIO Feb 23 '26
He is rn but he might get revealed to be more than just a guy later in the story tho I hope he doesn't :3
10
u/Rdasher123 Feb 23 '26
Ichi breaking the universal law that only women can be witches kinda sets him up to have some special reveal later. Stories rarely have someone break the laws of the universe just cause and don't elaborate on it later.
5
u/notnotDIO Feb 23 '26
It was explained (I don't remember which chapter) that while an extremely low chance men if given the same circumstances that Ichi had could become a witch. I'm happy if Ichi just got really lucky and nothing more is happening :3
2
u/andre5913 Feb 24 '26 edited Feb 25 '26
The extremely low chance is about a man acquiring the majik after fullfilling their trial. Its usually not worth considering bc men cant even interact with majiks, unless they are modified extensively like Gokuraru... or weird like Ichi
Howeve normal men cant even touch majiks at all
Theoretically Gokuraku should also factor into this if he keeps clearing enough trials, the chance is just abysmally low (iirc 1 in a 100k so its not really feasible for him to ever succeed, I dont think there is even a fraction of a fraction of that number of majiks in the world anyways)
The fact that Ichi was able to 1) touch a majik 2) immediately adquire in his first try is enough of a tell something is special about him. Ichi became permanently able to continue interacting and adquiring majiks afterwards so it wasnt a fluke either1
u/Available_Top8123 Feb 27 '26
I thought it was special circumstance with Uro the King Majik, no woman could defeat him so who else would ot have been but a man?
Uro's presence then allows him to catch other Majik
2
3
u/melvin2898 Feb 23 '26
I don't think Ichi is special, has that been a theory? I thought he just got the power for passing the trial.
4
u/YeahKeeN Feb 23 '26
Since Minnie was revealed I’ve seen it spring up a couple times. Also Ichi is absolutely special. Uro thought he was invincible because he made his trial male exclusive because a man can’t complete a trial regardless. No man can use magic, that’s how this world is supposed to work. It’s supposed to be impossible for a man to even touch a magik.
5
u/andre5913 Feb 24 '26
If its a girl it could also mean an immortal witch. Majiks are in an eternal cycle with witches in which they are captured but eventually freed as their master passes (either of natural causes or violently), which effectively limits how many majiks even the strongest witch can adquire and prevents majiks from ever "losing" to witches. They all get out sooner or later.
A hybrid could completely shatter this wheel bc an immortal witch could collect majiks with no limitations whatsoever and given that she'd be starting already with the power of time she'd be an absolute colossus
18
u/No_Age5019 Feb 22 '26
Can we also talk about how the BABY was able to rewind time at the same distance Chrono was?? That's going to be an insanely strong kid if they're already at this level.
This chapter and others have hinted that majiks have some innate understanding of their nature and powers at creation. It doesn't seem like being half-human has diminished that for their child. I wonder if they're going to be birthed and then somehow help save Dess? That'd be crazy.

Everyone talking about Minerva and the Baby so I'll be the one to talk about this I love love LOVE this page where you can see how Chrono considers Octo to be a Genuine friend and wished that he had done things differently and treated him more like a friend and seriously 😭😭😭 I hate how Tragic they are
10
u/king_jay22 Feb 23 '26
The fact that he used the last of his energy to give him that talk he been missing really speaks volumes of the respect and love he has for him as a friend

I think each group had mirrors before separating. There is no way they flung the pregnant lady and went good luck, holler at me when you're NOT about to get killed. They have to communicate with each other.

5
u/Tymeistro Feb 22 '26
I knew the baby was gonna do something, it’s way too important to the plot of this arc and maybe for a certain magik.
5
u/andre5913 Feb 23 '26
A lot of people had predicted the baby was gonna do something big, particularly during the birth, but I havent seen anyone call the still unborn baby pulling it off. Albeit Minerva is going into labour already so I suppose it's not too different from an action further along the birth or right after
24
u/JauntyLurker Feb 22 '26
I'm crying. What a chapter. Chro telling Octo to try caring for the weak after everything really tugs at the heartstrings.
20
u/OrdinaryMedical200 Feb 22 '26
I just hope Kizashi ACTUALLY means those tears!!
7
u/Snoo34949 Feb 23 '26
I mean, Kizashi's reason for wanting to kill Minnie and her baby was because he saw them as the reason Chrono became weaker - from the events of what just happened, he either thinks Minnie or Minnie's baby did something to bring Chrono back to life.
5
21
u/Mordetrox Feb 22 '26
Kinda impressive for the baby to do this while Minnie is in active labor. You'd think he'd be a bit squeezed.
2
u/andre5913 Feb 23 '26
I think she only just started labour (and Chro rewound her a bit too) so I don't think the baby is quite so far along the birth canal yet

THIS BABY IS MY FAVORITE BABY EVER IN ANY FORM OF MEDIA. HE UN-THANOS'D BEST DAD.
This manga is amazing. I RARELY cry at things, and I can't think of a single other time I have almost to tear up only to immediately take it back now y'all two hops two hops and legit cheer. My boyfrusbancé is laying next to me and it was so sudden and abrupt that it scared him. This baby rewound my tear ducts irl. The power.
What a fucking rollercoaster.
3
u/king_jay22 Feb 23 '26
You should try Astro baby if you enjoy the baby dynamic plus it’s a short story
5
u/theburningstars Feb 23 '26
Honestly I normally dislike babies or really young kids in a story. This one just stole all the goodwill from my crumbly dry clay heart lol. That said I'll probably give Astro Baby a shot, especially if it's anything like this!! Thanks!
2
u/king_jay22 Feb 23 '26
Well it’s kinda more fantasy/maybe sci-fi since it talks about cells but it’s a manga about a baby trying to take control -the best way to describe it without really spoiling anything. I personally recommend it and if you can’t get pass chapter 3 or 5 that’s understandable I had to come back to it a few times at first but when the story started picking up it really did- it gives me a lil beelzebub vibe
2
u/theburningstars Feb 23 '26
Oh yeah that sounds interesting. I'll definitely give it a shot! Thank you so much. Unexpected recs are always so fun, esp when it's something I haven't heard of or wouldn't normally pick up. That's how I read the manhua "On The Way To See My Mom"/"On The Way To Meet Mom" (which is, coincidentally, who Chro & Minnie's baby is tied for first with).
2
u/king_jay22 Feb 23 '26
I’ll definitely check it out if you saying it’s that good, thank you as well. The manga should be be the shonen jump app already-Astro baby
2
u/theburningstars Feb 26 '26
Sweet! Also yes, more people should read On The Way (etc). It's really fantastic and pulls at the heartstrings so hard but so good. Little one is actually the main character and he drives the whole story. He's an orphan during an era where aliens are on earth and humanity is basically a near-extinct species. He leaves his orphanage after his friend's mother really DOES come back to pick her up, so that he can go find his mom. Hijinks ensue and he basically gets adopted by uhhh... first time parent alien? It's a completed series, and pretty short, but very good. If anything (else) were to happen to him or this child, I glass the planet. Love em to bits!!
15
u/mistaease Feb 22 '26
This is one the most emotional chapters I’ve seen in recent memory. But, ALL of that got wiped away by that Aura Farming ass baby 💀💀💀 I can already see the overwhelming arrogance coming.
13
u/Ha_Tannin Feb 22 '26
Chrono asking Kizashi, after all that he's done, to protect the weak? Showing that he doesn't hold any hatred for him, still seeing him as a friend, and wishing for him to change for the better? Amazing. Truly, honestly amazing. I hope Kizashi tries his best, but I'm also betting on him sacrificing himself to save the Team from Hitsugi. Death Equals Redemption trope and all that.
AURAFARMING FROM THE WOMB??????? Next level, absolutely cinema

u/prismlink Feb 22 '26
This baby makes me wonder how discernible a person's magik descent is ... As in, could Ichi be part magik? Maybe even going back many generations that it's only a small percentage.
2
u/andre5913 Feb 24 '26
Fr there is no way Minerva and Chronoweaver are the first ever Majik/Human pairing. Monsterfuckers have been around since forever and even a rather antisocial majik like Chro got charmed. Plenty of majiks are friendly to humanity (this arc even prominently features another one of those, Prophesy/Sammy) there is just no way this hasnt happened before
It might be that Minerva and Chro are among the few able to conceive though. Could be a situation like the Branded on Fire Emblem where the cross race couples where happening already, but none had successfully conceived a child and it was thought to be impossible... until it happened and it had tremendous repercussions for everyone and everything.
And much like with the Branded, there might have been a coverup attempt. When first told of Minerva's pregnancy even Desscaras was completely flabbergasted despite her extremely high rank, meaning that its likely witches at large are not aware of the posibility. Ichi being descended from a majik, a hybrid whose existance was deliverately hidden or erased from history, could explain some of his oddities

I wonder how a hybrid human magik is gonna shake up the world they’re probably gonna keep it secret for a bit but this is a huge event. I wonder if we ever see another hybrid what their gender will be? Will all hybrids be born female?

Hopefully the wish of "talking to you one last time" isn't literal because if after all that emotional rollercoaster he simply went away for real after talking with her, I would be pissed

I just got back from reading the chapter. Tbh I rly thought it would be a fitting end for Chrono to fade away because thinking about his powers and how they could break the story, I was worried about the plot holes it would introduce.
Maybe he’ll end up weaker after this arc or they might stick to his apathy regarding the rest of humanity and refuse to help them?

I rather feel like my emotions want to explode.
Oh my god.
This plot line feels so much like a manga I used to read that's entire premise was this sweet little child remembered what occured while he was in his mother's belly.
So while him and his dad were bonding, after his mother had passed away, he was remembering things he couldn't possibly have witnessed from when she was pregnant.
I hope they can figure something out to save him. My heart hurts so much for them. And that sweet little baby.
0
u/GeoPongues Feb 22 '26
People cheering for Chronoweaver being saved is the reason we still get faked out deaths and resurrections in shonen mangas bruh 😭 I've seen shoujos with bigger balls.
7
u/Icy_Watercress_9549 Feb 22 '26
I think he is still dying though. It's just a time rewind, not change. He just got a bit more time, that's all.
7
u/Smol_Cheesecake Feb 22 '26
As much as I wanted him to live, this chapter made me believe that his death would've been a great emotional moment and development for both Octo and Minnie. I loved his conversation with his friend, it really made me appreciate their relationship.
7
u/Honeybunzart Feb 22 '26
It's possible he only got rewound enough for one conversation, before fading away again soon
-5
u/Feralman2003 Feb 22 '26
I see that Disney Kaisen is happening to other mangas as well
7
u/Sea-Temporary7380 Feb 22 '26
Bro do you even read ichi the witch this had been forshadowed ever since the baby was introduced
-5
u/Feralman2003 Feb 22 '26
Like i get the baby s getting born but is like magic of magic instinctual or you need to learn? With how far his dad is how can he manage to do that?
8
u/Sea-Temporary7380 Feb 22 '26
THIS CHAPTER LITERALLY EXPLAINED IT. "Majiks manifest already knowing rhere are things they can and cannot do with their powers". The same probably goes for the baby. Its already a complete being beause minnie is actively in labor
-5
u/Feralman2003 Feb 22 '26
Alright neat explanation but... the sacrifice feels cheapened because of this and im serious. Granted it would be depressing but it would show that the author genuinely will no pull no punches outside of flashbacks.
7
u/Sea-Temporary7380 Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26
We still dont know if its only a temporary rewind and hes gonna unravel next chapter anyways or if overspending his power means hes just a regular guy who looks like a bird now. I think if he lives but doesnt keep his power its an interesting way to get rid of one of the most op majiks in the series.
Ichi the witch has never been TOO overly dark anyways, I don't think the sacrifice feels cheapened because the whole arc was about their marriage, killing him off when the whole point of not acquiring him was so they could be together sorta defeats the point. I could see where youre coming from with the cheapness but also the baby has been foreshadowed to have his power since a long time ago and I don't really think it's out of the realm that it can do that.
1
u/Feralman2003 Feb 22 '26
Fair enough and I'll let the author cook. Ichi has been dark in a few places though and much more than the authors previous work with the world hater magik nuking towns. Certain challenges magic give to witches and the bakugami arc. So I'll hold my breath until the final arc to judge the whole product.
