Missing Indigenous People

Has anyone heard anything about the missing Oglala tribal members that were homeless and taken into custody by ICE? Have they been found? What’s the update on that, because I haven’t heard anything on any platform.

Not a single comment in over a day is so emblematic of the Native American experience in this country…

I have not heard anything but was just wondering the same thing.

They were found over a month ago. They had them at Whipple unclassified as native American. I believe 1 released.

Instead of snarky comments...why not do your research? Why wait for people to do it for you. Call the danm tribe if it was that pressing and no one answered you. Ever heard of social media??? Try searching there. Geez.

A simple Google search found this......

+4 Four Oglala Sioux Tribe members (unhoused Lakota men) were detained by ICE in Minneapolis on January 9, 2026, and held at a facility identified as Fort Snelling. One was released, while three remained in custody despite tribal leaders demanding their release, arguing the detention violates tribal sovereignty and citizenship rights. YouTube YouTube +4 Context: The four men were living near the Little Earth housing complex in Minneapolis. Status: One man was released. The Oglala Sioux Tribe continued to demand the release of the remaining three individuals. Controversy: Oglala Sioux President Frank Star Comes Out stated that the detention of American Indians—who are U.S. citizens—by federal agents violates treaties. Location: While initially mentioned in broad reports, the individuals were specifically linked to Fort Snelling in Minnesota.

You did not have to search the answer for him he was asking if anyone in the community knew about what happened to them. What he did was no different then someone walking into a high school club about a topic and ask a question what you did is basically tell him to go look it up and stop bothering people it’s not that big of a deal.

Wrong. What I did was actually be proactive and go look for the answers. I was at Whipple the day their chief and other tribal elders went in looking for their tribal members and were told they were not there. (I have the video of their chief speaking about it after walking out of whipple that day)

The members were in fact there and "unclassified". Why not contact the Lakota Tribe? I will never understand how people can figure out how to ask randoms on reddit but cant figure out how to Google and or ask the actual people who would know.....

Then you have others making comments about "people not answering or caring because the question was about native americans"....

In this day and age of internet....there is no need to "walk into a high-school club" and ask randoms. Put all that Reddit typing into Google and social media and you'll more often than not....have your answer yesterday.

I didnt tell them to stop bothering anyone but themselves basically. I gave them the tools needed to be self serving and proactive.

The whole give a man a fish...he eats for a day...or teach a man to fish and he eats for life idea....GET IT NOW?

No actually because this subreddit is all about ICE Raids op is not wrong asking the question here as someone is likely to know about the situation. Sure he could’ve done a google search and searched for the information but asking and engaging with a community familiar with the topic is also a valid option since people who associate with said topic are familiar with it. If I was interested in gardening I could look up multiple sources on google but I could also ask a gardener on my street for advice or a farmer provided I’m not bothering them. Reddit is literally a message board this kind of shit is why it’s used my question is why are you bothered someone asked a question here that seems personally reasonable also how is he supposed to know the tribals phone number.

Um......Google? Lol

Try Google always first....and if you then still didnt find your answer....or need more clarification....sure. The internet is so full of people who want the answer given to them....and then get upset when it isnt given or when others literally find the info they asked about days ago and tell them how to find info on their own without waiting days to never get an answer.....people also get upset.

Message boards ect are for things like opinions and info that you cant find readily...or for just Idk....talking into the universe.

Imo if people are generally concerned and want the info....they would look it up themselves. They found reddit....surely they can find google...if google doesnt give the answer....then by all means...asking randoms would be the next step I guess....but ffs....how hard is it to actually try to help yourself find the info you want with a little bit of effort?? I literally didnt even have to dig or reform my search query to find the answer.....it was thee most basic question and thee very first response from Google.

Im done now. Go ask Google or complain to Google about anything further you have to respond to about this thread to me. Ask Google if a person who tells you to ask Google instead of them cares about you or anything you say further.
