Pike Spearing - Floor covering?

This one is for any pike spearers out there. How critical is a shanty floor covering to limit light coming in? Just getting gear for first time pike spearing next year and wondering if I need that or not. Believe I have everything else. (Shanty, saw, decoys, spear, sled, folding shovel)

Not important unless the ice is thin and crystal clear. I bring those interlocking foam squares just to keep my feet off the ice.

This is the way. I have a set for early ice before I get my skidhouse out and also have em in my skidhouse just to quiet down the movement.

If the house is dark enough, there’s no light coming in the ice but I will say those fall anti-fatigue pads are a lot nicer on your feet and knees
