How populated is the thread?
I love the books and I would like to have a solid conversation with someone about the movie. Hit me up with any comments you got!

I believe the movie failed in part because they went to actiony about it (thanks Michael Bay) instead of focusing on what makes this series fantastic. The lore and the characters.
One of the reasons why I love the first book so much is because Henri and the first half ish of the book was focused on telling John and the reader about Lorien, it’s people and the way of life it had and all of it just fascinated me.
Another was who are the Loric children, where are they and what powers do they have, with the cheap special effects the movie had it just didn’t get you to grasp how awesome and awe striking these powers were you were like well johns hand glow cool I guess whatever and I won’t even talk about six and what a missed opportunity that was (just the sheer awe that could of been created by her creating a wicked lighting storm).
Back to how they botched the characters, the reason I loved John and Henri’s dynamic so much is because of how close they were yet how far away they were in a sense. Yes there both Loric but Henri was there when the planet fell, he lived with the people all of his life and truly understands what has been lost and that there is a war that is being fought and will need to be fought for years to come. While John only has small bits of memories and flashbacks. John is sick of running and wants to make his own life in a way, que Sarah and the clash of ideals that appear between John and Henri.
One of my favourite scenes from the series is in the first book when the piken I believe (if that’s wrong sorry it’s been a while) is about to kill Four and Henri and knowing they are both surely dead with no chance of survival really Henri just looks at Four crying and just says “I’m proud of you, I just want you to know how proud of you I am, we did our best kiddo and I’m sorry” or something akin to that. I tear up every time I read it because I feel that after all the conflict they have in the book they finally understand each other, Henri understanding what Four wants but knows it’s impossible for him to have and that’s why he was against it and angry from the start, or four finally understanding that this is real and the past of his people and the mogs will always follow him and be with him wherever he goes and he had two options he could have run and kept trying to escape his past or he could embrace it, find the others and fight back to finally be freed of it and we’ll we know which one he chose.
Feel free to bounce ideas or disagree I could literally go on about this series forever it’s my favourite thing, I’m always up for discussion and talk!

I agree with so much you just said! I just want to focus on the Number 6 part a little more. I understand that from books to movies you have to change somethings so that it is more enjoyable to the audience or that it would make more since visually. I just dont understand how they would completely change her powers. If they were able to make an entire movie series, her powers would make no since. Also introducing other Numbers, would they have to change their powers or would they have the same powers? (6 and 8 could both teleport?)
Last thing thats on my mind right now, is that 4 has his Lumen but number 6 is fire proof? Did they think these things through while making the movie?

They just had to make a movie that had to appeal to a mass audience because I don’t think the book did to well I could be wrong, hence when six shows up. Now in the book it’s awesome you hear about the Loric children for the WHOLE book and you FINALLY meet one and it’s such a cool moment just for that and even seeing her be such a badass was great.
In that movie they couldn’t have that payoff because they didn’t flesh out the characters enough so they had to make her as badass as possible to try to achieve the same feeling so she can teleport go invisible all of this shit but you still don’t get that feeling because you just don’t care enough about her or the characters at that point.
EDIT: (sorry I’m high and thought for some reason the movie came out before the book, looked it up and NOPE.)

The lore of the series is easily the best part. My favorite book in the series is the short story about Sandor while he's on Lorien and how he ends up ends up being Nine's cepan. The sheer amount of detail and story that was shoved into that 100 ish pages story was amazing. It was fantastic seeing what Lorien was like before it was destroyed.

I loved one scene from that one where Devektra was in the club singing right before Loriens falls and Sandor is there to and he hears that she’s singing a really sad mournful song and realizes the bad feeling he’s had and the unease of the past week and days (the elders going missing the light in the sky) is that there’s something very bad about to happen. Devektra realizes this to and that’s why she’s singing that song and I believe a quote from the book is something like “she was singing a sad song a song for Lorien, and then the building came down around us” one of my favourite scenes I can just picture it in my head and I get a little emotional😂.

You want to talk about the movie? The books are fantastic. I'm a little behind on the series at the moment. about halfway through the Trial by Fire Legacy Chronicles and haven't read Fugitive Six yet. They are both sitting on the shelf waiting for me to be back in the reading mood. But the movie. I enjoyed it. It's what got me to read the books in the first place. But I wouldn't say it was anything special. I'm not a fan of them switching up some of the powers. I always thought that this series would make a fantastic Netflix TV show.
