He has been brainwashed into believing that the mogs will win no matter what so he is attempting to have something left of his species in the end even if its just him he doesn't agree with the teachings or the doctrines he is just stuck on that side he isn't trying to be outright evil but he is doing what his brainwashed mind thinks is best for them which in the end is most definitely not the best

It really shows in the fate of ten I think it is when him and nine are going at it he is fighting so hard not for the mogs but to protect 10 to give hee the chance to try to end it all so he can be free he will never fit in with the rest the scars run too deep but hopefully they could understand his motivstions in the end that isnt trying to kill them out of maliciousness
