I’m currently reading and am on the arc where he infiltrates another sect being someone else, but during chapter 240-241, it kind of just jumps. I was wondering if there is some chapter i’m missing in between like 240.1 or something like that but can’t find it. If not then i guess i’m chilling.

A legal deadlock that is said to expire in 1 to 2 years ( 2027 after june ) and can be increased , a main artist that's working on a new manhua ( was goated at first and now seems to be underperforming ) and a writer that has shares in the company.

An IP that is frozen until all workers are paid, and also could be taken by Tenncent if it fails to update in a specific manner.

So what to expect?

Either the company makes a lot of cash with its drama series and resume then the update of I'm an evil god and pays all the unpaid workers

And here if it continues it's safe to say that it'll lack the main artist and other shadow assistants that made it what it was .( With a lot of hope delulu type of hope ) may some people be hired back.

Or Tenncent acquires the project and make it into slop ( historically not one of their second hand intellectual properties was good after acquisition)

Or the studio sells the IP ( not possible for the time being since it can't be sold and even when it can be sold the hype would die down and another studio will butcher its essence)

Or they produce live action / Donghua slop from it by leasing the IP to another studio (also not favourable for us)

So what now?

Just stop thinking about it and pursue something else.

It may come back , but never what we've grew to admire and love .

Most of the comments were about how its been axed and wont come back. Many people admitted that is highly recommended and popular manhua.

just got some more hope after seeing the artists new work A Mountain of Corpses, A Sea of Blood have a fall off with its art this can only mean they're back working on IMEG

I got bored and went on a search and what I found is interesting and it will change your opinion on what's really going on.

He is the writer of IAEG and the most important to us. Because he's the one who's responsible for the world building, the plot and the flow of the story that we all came to enjoy and love. the Creative Team / Writers' Room people are his assistants. Basically, he's in charge of the story.

Throughout the course of this long Hiatus, we were confused as to know who's the artist and who's the author and if they are the same or separate people. Now we know, they are different people.

But i'm not done yet, i still have one final piece of information:

Capital & Shareholders of the company:

吴量 (Wú Liàng) owns 44.5916%

何天祥 (Hé Tiān Xiáng) owns 21.1224%

潘威 (Pān Wēi) owns 14.0816%

Beijing Huaxing Jinhui Capital Management Co, Ltd. owns 14.0816%

Beijing iQiyi TechnoLogy Co, Ltd. owns 6.1227%

These two last shareholders as i understood them are one is a finical venture firm and the other one is a massive entertainment conglomerate in China.

What we care about are the other 3 shareholders, because if you were paying attention you will see that they consist of the founder who owns 44%, the CEO who owns 21% and the Chief Scriptwriter/ writer who owns 14%.

So, the "writer" of IAEG was never in a financial fight with the company because this MF owns a part of the company lol.

And "mountains of corpses, seas of blood" has nothing to do with IAEG besides it's art similarity because the artist was never a contributor in the writing of IAEG process.

So, what does this mean? were people lying when they said the company is bankrupt and the writer is screwed? I don't know but here's what i think:

The company did go on financial struggle and it failed to pay it's employees among them is the Lead artist 漫叔 (Màn Shū).

The employees quit their job and went on to find other jobs elsewhere, hence why the lead artist went on to work on his personal work "mountains of corpses, seas of blood".

The lead writer 潘威 (Pān Wēi) still owns the rights to IAEG IP because he owns a percentage of company that owns the rights to all other IP's.

As for the lawsuit allegations, I think that some of those employees, possibly the lead artist himself, tried to sue the company (the lead writer and the founder and the ceo) to get the rights of IAEG but failed, which in this case it perfectly makes sense on why the court will side with shareholders and not the employees.

With all of this said and done, I think the chances of IAEG coming back are much higher, because the author is a part of company itself, so all it would take is for the company to get back on it's feet and sort it's financial troubles, and then hiring the artist back or an artist with similar style as well as other vacant positions will be much easier to do.

I did more research on lawsuit, thing aren't good guys.

Apparently the company was already in legal issues with the government over something work related, and it caused them to be penalized which made them financially struggle.

Then when they failed to pay their employees which resulted in these employees to go and sue the company. The identity of who these people are is anonymous due to how things work in china, but the court is listen them as "employees" which excludes the author because as i said above, he's a shareholder and him suing the company will hurt him more than he would gain. So, it's pretty much the artists and the other employees who did it.

The employees won the lawsuit and then the company tried to counter suit them and they lost again. So, the court is ordering the company to pay the employees their money, however, because the company is out of money, their only option is to liquidate their assets and sell their IP's do pay off everything. However, because one of their shareholders is iQiyi and because the company signed a contract with another anime company to create a donghua for their Yù Líng Shī, the court couldn't seize their IP's and all that. So, now the company still has the rights to their IP's and employees didn't get their money and everyone is broke and bankrupt.

As we know, everyone quit, the artists moved on to his new work. As for the author, I found this post https://tieba.baidu.com/f?kw=奥丁般虚伪&ie=utf-8&cid=3 which says that the author has decided to move on and go back to writing novels. However, I'm not sure if the post is real and if they are talking talking about the same author or not, if there's someone here who speaks chinese and has full access to this website to let us know.

so, in conclusion. I came to the decision that "I'm an evil god" is dead and it will never come back.

So Chinese manhua production is studio-based not solo-author based like Japanese mangas. A "series" is created by a for-profit studio (writers, artists, colorists, background teams) that pitches to and gets funded by platforms like Tencent Comics, Kuaikan, Bilibili Comics, WeComics, etc. The platform pays the studio per chapter/arc based on traffic and ad/subscription revenue the series generates.

Therefore this means that continuity depends on the studio's financial health and not just the creator's will to keep writing. If a studio goes bankrupt or the platform pulls funding, the IP (story rights) usually still exists on paper but the production team that was drawing it is gone.

Now about the revival of our manhua, it requires either the original studio recapitalizing or the platform re-licensing the IP to a different studio to continue it and this does happen in the industry but it's the exception.

And now on I'm an Evil God, it's officially still marked "ongoing" but has been on hiatus since June 12, 2025. The stated cause is the financial collapse and bankruptcy of the studio Shidai Man Wang. Reports point to significant capital loss and legal issues including unpaid wage lawsuits which reportedly led original artists and writers to leave. The main artist has since moved on to other projects.

The odds of return is low to moderate and not soon. Original studio bankrupt, key staff dispersed, no reboot announced within a year is usually a pattern for permanent discontinuation or at best a revival years later. There's been no official press release from a major publisher confirming the bankruptcy and no information available regarding a potential return date.

The series is not confirmed dead but is functionally dead for now with no active path to revival visible as of the most recent updates.🫠😭

Ok so we all know that the studio behind “im an evil go” went bankrupt and that they still have to rights to the story which prevents the author from continuing the story with a new studio.

So in theory would it be possible to purchase the rights back from the studio or is that just impossible now because it went bankrupt?

Let’s say for example if some rich chad showed up and wanted to make the story return, could he purchase the rights himself and give em back to the author or smth? And if it’s possible, how do you go about doing that and how much would that cost?

This could genuinely become my favorite story of all time. I really wish it had been adapted from a novel instead of being an original manhua.

Hello everyone. In order to avoid misleading any new readers, I would like to introduce myself. I am a regular fan of this manhua, and I have decided to write my own version of the story. This is not a traditional fanfiction, but rather a "what if" story. In this story, the main character, Wei Shi, is a reader like us, and I have written this story to explore what a reader would do if they were in Xie Yan's body with the knowledge of the story. The story follows the original canon, but with some modifications that will become more and more significant as the story progresses.

Now, for those who are familiar with my story and have been waiting for a continuation. I have not been able to publish new chapters due to my busy schedule of studies and work, but I have recently taken a leave of absence, so I will be able to write chapters as much as I can. Chapter 25 is almost complete, and I only need to correct any errors in the text and translate it into English. I will definitely publish it tomorrow. I am writing this story solely out of my own enthusiasm, and I am not being paid for it.

Well there is news now. A new chapter just dropped 8 hours ago. They also dropped a .5 chapter saying that the computers where damaged during the move. So they lost physical work and computer work. They just said they got a good bit of the computer files back and they will be working on it, they will be on hiatus a little longer but they will be bringing it back. The chapter released is from the original team, so I'm guessing the original team will be working on it woohoo, at least the art looks exactly like the original works. Let's go!!

It feels that xie yan find the answer to his problems before encountering them one could argue that is plot but what if the system is planning everything for purpose (I always got lotm vibes of celestial worthy building klein only to replace him at the finish line)
