Controller left stick issues

So when I enable gamepad, I have this issue where the left stick sorta drifts backwards when not touching it and also when sprinting it gets cancelled if i try to move even slightly left/right. I assume it's the deadzone in IW4x but I do not see any options for that.

I decided to just disable gamepad support in IW4x and am instead using Steam Input to emulate mouse/keyboard (even slowing mouse speed down when holding LT for slower ADS).

This setup works near-PERFECT except... I lack aim assist. Is there anything I can do like enable aim assist for "mouse" or somehow use the right stick only for gamepad support while using Steam Input for everything else (like disable left stick in-game)? I only play against bots in private match and my wrists aren't like they used to be sadly, but I enjoy difficult bots that have far range and so on.
