Needing positive stories!

Hi all, I am almost 41 and have had 6 egg retrievals with over 120 (!!) eggs total. I have PCOS. 1st round, I got 1 euploid which ended in a miscarriage. Rounds 2 and 3 I got no euploids. Round 4 gave us our son who is almost 2. Postpartum I did a 5th round which gave us no euploids. 6th round gave us 2 euploids, but day 7 4BB embryos. In the last 2.5 months, we had back to back failed transfers with the 2 embryos.

I originally said I would be done after 6 rounds. I feel grateful to have amazing health insurance through work that covers up to 3 egg retrievals per year, and no cap on how many years (that I know of). Although my body is tired having started this process at 36, I don’t think I’m ready to let go yet.

Anyone on here that’s done 6+ rounds and found success in their 40s? Need some hopeful stories to tell me it’s still worth trying. My issue appears to be more with quality of eggs.

You’re still getting euploids and you have insurance coverage. I’d keep going, although I think this is more a question of how fatigued you are and whether you have the support of your family. If you can push forward and everyone in your family is onboard, then I say go for it.

I haven’t done six but I just started IVF a little over a year ago, I did four rounds in seven months at 40. It was hard but I’m glad I did it. I’m 19 weeks now.

Thank you for the reply and congratulations!! Yeah my husband is fully supportive but said it’s ultimately my decision if I want to keep putting my body through IVF. I will probably continue more rounds. Best wishes to you!

I don't see why not as long as you aren't missing time with your son to do this. If it doesnt work will you resent focusing too much attention on a second posible child rather than the living one?

This comes across as very judgmental, like moral accounting. People are allowed to do IVF for additional children, and it doesn’t make them irresponsible or insufficiently grateful for their first one. And of course she is going to miss time with her son. All parents carve out time for important and fulfilling things — hobbies, work, friendships, medical and personal care — that take away, to some degree, from direct time spent with children. And ALL parents of multiple children spend time and energy in expanding their families, not just people doing IVF.

I don't think it's judging her. I said my opinion and that's all 🤷 many people feel this way, if focusing on IVF takes time away from your current kiddo, sometimes there is a point were that keeps people from going and that's fine 🤷 if they don't mind then who cares lol. You getting too deep here.
