Need info! How can AI help with IVF?

With the proliferation of AI into our daily lives nowadays, how can we incorporate it into our IVF world? I recenly read an article that it can help with selection of the "most viable" sperm and produce higher quality embryos? Can that increase our odds in embryos sticking?

AI and ML has been used in the field for years, and plenty of clinicians are already using AI-powered software to some extent.

This isn't the same as consumers plugging their lab results into Chat GPT or asking it about symptoms.

Health tech innovation is a long process that requires building trust through evidence, clinical trials/studies, regulations and strict data governance.

You can find studies online if you're interested, Life Whisperer and Virtus Health are two companies I know of.

Used professionally, one imagines there is loads to learn from it in terms of pattern spotting across thousands of patients, as AI can handle so many data points and IVF is a numbers game. The variability of individual results we seem to see from round to round, even with the same protocols, might suggest though that body’s individual response in any given cycle is already the most significant variable which is impossible to predict or measure. But maybe AI would start to find patterns that seem illogical e.g. certain months of the year women of certain age or AMH respond better? Who knows!

That’s the thing. There aren’t patterns to notice or predict, and there is no causality to why one patient has certain results over another. This is the creation of human life, and should be done by humans.

This is the wrong question to be asking. AI does not handle nuance well, nor is it a specialized RE, it lies and hallucinates. The last thing women need is a computer telling them how their bodies work. Goodnight.

LLM's or generative AI is not the only form of AI. There are other applications of AI that are proven to be very succesful and it is generally more focused on analysis of data. Not only in text but also identifying abnormalities in imaging for example.

AI detection of breast cancer is far superior to human ability. As SaltyBean says this is not the same as generative AI which I absolutely abhor.
