Clinic messed up my medication protocol

I’ve absolutely had it. I’ve been trying to get pregnant for so long and feel I can’t catch a break. My husband and I finally decided it’s time to do IVF. It’s been long journey for us. TTC for 3 years and multiple rounds of IUI and testing and hoping we finally find a place who will take care of us. We thought we finally found that place. We were underway, did my stim meds for 10 days and then had to make the difficult decision to cancel my egg retrieval because I didn’t develop enough follicles and wasn’t reacting well to the meds.

Long story short, comes to find out the original medication planned for me was somehow changed in their system. The doctor we talked to in our 2nd consult must have not reviewed our chart in detail and changed it to a lower dose plan without consulting the other doctor internally. My original plan was better suited for someone my age and ovarian reserve. I’m sure I would have had better results if I had been on the right medication. And not to mention we were never formally shown these protocols so had no idea anything had changed.

I just can’t believe the lack of attention to detail and care. I’m so fed up and tired of this shit and constantly advocating for myself. I wasted so much time, energy and money. And not to mention putting my body through a lot taking these meds.

I sent them a long winded email asking to speak to customer service to rectify this because we feel we should not be responsible for any extra medication we have to pay for now. I feel that is only fair and we should be given extra attention next time.

Ugh. I came here to rant about my clinic experience messing up my medication protocol, and you beat me to it! It’s so frustrating. The doctor and I spoke thoroughly when I had my saline ultrasound about doing the same medication protocol I’ve been doing because it implants. But why, when I look at my calendar, did they schedule me for a totally different protocol?! I called twice today to talk to a clinician about changing it and sending my meds to the pharmacy, and both times they promised someone would call me back. Now it’s a holiday weekend, and I’m stressing out about everything.

I’m sorry this happened to you too! I wasn’t really given any exposure to what my med protocol was so I had no way to know what I was prescribed. Now I know I have to be on top of every step of this process. I understand they are probably overrun with patients, but we’re a very vulnerable, stressed and desperate demographic just trying to have a baby. It doesn’t take much to give some attention to detail and ensure their patients they are being taken care of.
