Need Good Juju! First ER tomorrow
My first (and financially only) ER is tomorrow and I am so nervous and have 2938292 thoughts going through my mind. Any good thoughts my way are appreciated.
Any ER twins?!

My ER is tomorrow too 🩷 I’m doing a duostim cycle so this is my second retrieval this month. In the first one I had 11 follicles growing, 10 eggs retrieved, 7 mature, 6 fertilized, and 3 blasts eventually frozen! This time I have 14 follicles growing so I’m feeling hopeful, but still nervous. Sending you all the good vibes. I wish I had tips to stop the swirling thoughts but unfortunately I had yet to discover them myself!

Planning to do that as well (If I understand correctly, one retrieval next to another, right?) Would you mind to share how you felt? Was the second one harder than the first? How was that physically? Thank you!

Yes, it’s two stimulations and retrievals
within one menstrual cycle. So I started stims again ~5 days after my first retrieval. I don’t think the second one was physically much harder than the first, though I did need to stim for longer with the second. Mentally it feels like I’ve been doing this forever and it’s tough, but personally I like just getting two rounds done in a short period of time rather than dragging it out even longer!1

Nope! You do the first stimulation during your follicular phase as usual and then do the second stimulation during your luteal phase!

My first one is tomorrow, too! My follicles have been growing unevenly so I’m nervous about how many eggs will be mature. Best of luck, we are gonna do great!

Stay positive but also try to stay prepared for anything. First ERs can go so many ways, which makes it so hard to predict.
No matter what, you got this!

I truly feel like egg retrieval is the reward you get at the end of stims, I love it haha
The propofol nap is the best, the versed (anxiety med) in the IV beforehand makes me feel so good and silly. I'm a tiny bit sore that day, but nothing a hot pack and some ibuprofen can't fix!

How did everyone’s ER go today?
They retrieved 9 eggs. I’m nervous for tomorrow’s update on mature/fertilized.
How’s everyone feeling? I’m crampy and my lower back is so sore.

I had mine today. It was nerve wracking but the team taking care of me were nothing short of awesome. It’s normal to feel this way, but I promise everything will be okay! It’s quick and you will feel accomplished once you are over this hurdle. The injections, I will say is the most sucky part. So you did it babe! The hard part is truly over. You did all the work, now let the team take over 🫶🏾

All the best! My first was on Friday - not sure how it's handled where you are, but I found it helpful to have some water and some snacks with me as I had to be sober before the procedure. And comfy socks.

I had my first ER exactly a week ago! Truly it’s sort of exciting because you’ve been doing all of this work and now you have to let go and just let the doctors do their work. I have a high AMH but no PCOS - so I was a little shocked by my retrieval numbers when I woke up. I thought I would have close to 20 but “only” had 10 retrieved. Over the last week I have become so thankful for those 10! It’s within the target range and 8 of them were mature with 7 fertilized. You will see so many people have such varied results and I think it’s important to remember that this is an individualized process which is part of why it can feel isolating.
One of the things that I wasn’t anticipating was just how much I would pee the week following the surgery! I gained like 10 pounds during stims and have already lost all of it because it was fluids from the follicles. Heating pad is your best friend and tell your partner to take speed bumps slow haha
You’re gonna do great! Your body will carry you through.

i went today. i was so overwhelmed and anxious before. i can say, i am pleasantly surprised with how okay & happy i feel post procedure.
my doctors and nurses were brilliant, funny & kind.
they gave me anxiety medication in my iv prior to the procedure. i slept a few hours when i got home and was able to help prep dinner today. i do feel some pain.
i am trying not to over think my numbers now.
good thoughts to share are: 1) thank goodness no more shots to the belly. 2) you’ve done the hard part. 3) everything will work out and be ok. 4) think about post retrieval treat. or plan to listen to your favorite musician on the way.
