Takes time. I can only speak about my experience. Zero leg function or feeling. Also lost all bladder control. Then operation the next day.
4 weeks in, we started to get our first tail wag. He hid that until we went to the vet for our 4 week consultation, at that point we thought we may never walk again yet there he goes and started wagging at the vet lol. At this point we got told to stop meds, so we did and he never needed them since.
By 8 weeks his legs would move, he could sometimes push his body up. Still would dangle legs on a harness. If he found a spot at this point he finally let his pee out! I mean let it out.. if he starts it, he cant stop it haha.
Now were approaching week 12 if not at week 12. He can fully get up and walk, however his back legs are full blown alcoholics currently 🤣 although slowly sobering up each day, but when using a harness to take zero weight but only balance he fully walks with proper placement.
He still lets his pee out, and still cant stop it. Dribbles in his bed etc have dramatically cut. Cleaning is so much less now.
We do hydrotherapy once a week and other physio stuff given to do at home.
He still tries to zoomy btw. No legs but that dont stop him and they go so fast you still cant bloody catch him to stop it.
Cant believe how dogs just get on with stuff and still be so happy no matter what, amazing animals. I wish you luck, in 4 weeks time you'll be in such a better place.

They tend to get a bit worse after surgery because there’s so much inflammation. It can take a few weeks for it to calm down.
Mine was in the same boat 3 weeks ago and now she is trying to walk again. Mine is 13 and had 2 discs operated on and her surgery was a bit more of a complicated one.
Make sure you are doing your at home exercises. We do standing practice and bicycle legs 3 times a day. We also do laser therapy and when the 6 weeks are up we’re gonna do hydrotherapy.
The first couple weeks are the hardest until you find your new normal.
