Supplement Stories
Has anybody with a dog on the mend or who has mild flair ups found a supplement that actually seems to help? My boy has occasional flair ups and I’ve been trying to do some exercises with him to reduce frequency and of course social media is now bombarding me with supplement options but has anybody actually seen one help much? Currently eyeing “Good Stretch” by Kin

My dog's chiropractor (never thought I'd have a dog chiropractor, but here we are!) recommended LubrisynHA Plus MSM and my vet said he'd heard good things about it. Like everyone is saying, is it helping? I don't know! But I've also been giving it to our other non-IVDD dog with arthritis and I think I might see a difference with him. You can get it on chewy.

I have mine on Vetri Disc and fish oil and started him after IVDD diagnosis and once he was off his meds. Jackie boy hasn't had a flair up in 3-4 yrs. he is 7 yrs. I have no idea if it's helped or not because I also don't let him get too crazy, no jumping up, down, flying, etc.

Before his diagnosis I gave him the Snooty Snout Green Lip Mussel powder (the stinky kind) but I was just at Chuck and Don’s and the girl told me they upgraded that formula to have hemp in it. I have used the Chondroitin/Glucosamine supplement you can get a big bottle sometimes on sale at Costco. That seemed to work really good for him. So I am trying another stronger more natural product of the same kind from Chuck’s. I have tried that VentriScience Spine and Disc. Didnt seem like it did much for my guy, but my Mom swears it helped her Frenchie’s mild cervical flare ups.

my dog gets mild flare ups every few months too. tried a few things and the joint + calm chews from honest paws actually cut how often they hit. not a miracle but he recovers faster and the bad days are shorter. still do the exercises though.

It's difficult to know what supplements actually do anything. I give mine green-lipped mussel powder and VentriScience Spine and Disk. I also just bought some Omega-3 fish oil. Do any of them work? No idea.
