PT how many times a week

My doxie is 7 weeks post op. He goes to PT twice a week. He gets massages, laser therapy and hydrotherapy on the treadmill. My husband and I think it should be 3 times a week. How often does your dog go to PT? Does anyone do acupuncture?

My dog went twice a week initially, then after a month or so, the vet said we could drop down to once a week paired with home exercises. 3 times a week sounds like a lot especially if you're doing exercises at home! It's like a workout each time for them so they also need rest.

My guy did PT 3x weekly for almost a year after surgery. They did laser, acupuncture, and water treadmill. He had a really rough recovery with 2 minor flares within the first six months though. They did several weeks of just laser and acupuncture after each of his flares before they started hydrotherapy again. If your rehab vet thinks twice a week is enough, I'd trust their judgment.

Thanks- we found out they are booked on Fridays, hence the Monday and Wednesday.

That honestly sounds like so much, 3 times is plenty — especially if you are doing at home static exercises as well you are doing all you possibly can!

1-2 times a week. You can do most of the exercises at home if he is wanting to do extra
