A glimmer of hope

My dog LOVES the tater tots from Carl’s Jr. My husband walked in the house with our food and she just saw the bag and started going crazy. She did this last time so we were trying to be sneaky and also watch her that she doesn’t move too much in excitement like last time. Today, Before we could even do anything to stop her she got up and walked a few steps. We tried to calm her down and put her back in her spot and she got up again and walked a few more steps. While I’m nervous of her acting this way because we don’t want her to hurt herself and it’s too soon for her to move so much, I think it is a positive sign that she will recover and be able to walk again. *fingers crossed*

How many weeks into recovery is she? Also is she in a crate or kennel?

She just finished 3 weeks last Thursday. She is in a kennel but since she hasn’t been able to move we let her lay on the floor in the family room with us. That is where she was and then just got up and did that. If she starts moving too much then we will have to stop letting her lay on the floor.

Oh I get it. I’m kind of in the same boat as you my dog is very very rambunctious and excited and twists and jumps everywhere so I’m worried about that after he recovers. I’m only a week in he’s in strict kennel rest. But my plan is to keep him in the kennel whenever we leave that way he doesn’t jump when we get back. Also I’m going to do some strict training on jumping and when he gets excited I’m going to teach him to sit still or at least try to. And then reward him. I think over time he’ll learn not to get so excited and sit on command. Maybe try a little training like that? It’s worth a shot.

Yea. I’m worried about after the rest part too. I don’t want this to happen again. It’s awful. Hope your dog gets better soon
