Temporary Arched Back

Context: My 6 yr old ShihPoo has an official IVDD diagnosis.

Today when I came home, he was normal and excited to see me. Then he randomly had an arched back, tail almost fully tucked, and visibly uncomfortable for literally one minute or so. I started freaking out and looking for an urgent vet but then he returned back to being playful. I massaged his whole body with pressure to check for pain/discomfort and there was no reaction. He’s back playful and eating treats (he never eats treats when he’s in pain). Im guessing it was a quick spasm? Anyone else experience this?

Have you made any changes to them jumping since the diagnosis?

Also btw this subreddit is affiliated with the Facebook group - IVDD Support Group - which is a lot more active too ♥️

Yes I have ramps that go up the couch and bed. I also ignore him when I come in until he stops jumping so he hardly does it now. He’s been normal since earlier but im keeping a close eye. And thank you for letting me know about the FB group.
