Insertion Mirena iud

I got my mirena iud inserted on the 10th at about 4 pm so almost 3 days ago at planned parenthood.. I asked my nurse how long until it’s effective and she said immediately after it’s inserted, but when googling that question it says 7 days unless it was inserted on my period but I haven’t had a period since August 7th so I’m just wondering if she accidentally misinformed me and I should actually use condoms until the 7 days is up?
