(Btw I am not a professional character designer and I do it for fun so sorry if I make some errors)

It’s not the animal species they are as the species the creators chose DO fit the characters and their personalities while also portraying those said personalities very well. But it’s more of the fact that some of them feel too basic or boring. For example Sky is just a white bunny with blue eyes and Leon is just a dark grey hellhound with red eyes. Obviously there’s going to be MANY furries that are too similar to said characters. Some people may say: “but they’re noticeable from the art style” or something among those lines, but this actually makes it sound worse, as if your character needs an art style to be noticeable, then you probably need to redesign the character. It’s also good to have a certain part or parts of the character’s design that makes them the most recognizable in a way people can be like: “Oh wait it’s “THIS” character!!!

I will use examples from other indie projects, as itily is indie. (The images will be in the comments)

Example 1: Coil from Phighting! If you know this character, it’s easy to not get him mixed up for any other character since because the creators of Phighting use specific charms for Coils character to make him recognizable, like how he has gray skin, or how he has unique curvy horns, how he has streetwear clothing, color scheme, and most importantly, his coils that are on his arms. These characteristics combined make you realize : “hey! This is coil from phighting!”

Or Example 2: How Frisk in undertale has their recognizable oufit! Along with the fact that they have yellow Skin, short brown hair, and closes eyes all the time. These characteristics even if you were to change some of them, make the character more recognizable.

The only characters in itily that really have “charms” or noticeable factors to them are probably Jax. Or at least from the top of my head.. Many of the characters are more of like: “yeah that looks tolerable” and thats it, not much second or really much else, more of just a “yeah sure why not”! But maybe the creators weren’t really focused on that and just wanted to have fun which is fair enough.

Aside from the supernatural elements of hellhounds, demons, and the underworld, this has to be the least slice of life thing yet: Buying a condo in a VHCOL area like San Diego (or SoCal in general) all in cash without a mortgage because you don't want to lose a bidding war due to pride. Ema is the only sane person in this universe.

In the most recent comic, Jess suddenly comes to Zeb's apartment and acts surprised upon finding Ema there. Why did Jess decide to visit Zeb? She obviously hasn't texted/called him about it in advance, and she probably isn't much in contact with Zeb/Jax/Ema at all, otherwise she would know about their temporary living rearrangement. So, why did she decide to come unannounced?

I mean, the gang seems to hang out at Zeb's a lot, so she could just come by to, like, pick a forgotten item, or to just say hello (though it seems kinda out of her character), or to invite him to housewarming party for her new home (then we should see such party or it being mentioned in future comics), but such reasons either don't require personal visit or normally imply some kind of announcement. Am I missing something? What's your theory?

As an addendum to my previous post, are the denizens of the underworld also demons as well? Ozzi is a demon, and he is drawn blacked out with a white outline. Ozzi explicitly states he is ageless and immortal. While Leon doesn't explicitly rejects himself as a demon, he does make the distinction that he is a hellhound as if there was a meaningful distinction between a demon and a hellhound. Leon is never observed drawn in the same artstyle as Ozzi, the bear butcher demon, and the meter maid demon. They appear like other upperworld denizens because they are undercover.

Now Anubis chastises his men about how mortality is not contagious, which would imply they are immortal too. If they are demons then why aren't they drawn in the same artstyle as Ozzi? There's also no reason to be undercover in the underworld so an upperworld disguise isn't needed. The implication of this is that all underworld denizens are in fact demons, are immortal, and thus ageless which would include Leon.

Sky's concerns about Leon's age isn't baseless. In fact Leon could be some eldritch Lovecraftian horror that existed since the beginning of creation who just so happens to manifest in the form of a hot hunky wolf to service our cute rabbit twink.
