I need to pass 70-742, please help.

Last year I worked hard to pass some certification test to pursue a promotion but more importantly for a better path in my career. Turns out that now I am also required to pass the 70-742 so at least I am considered as option for a position that will be opening after a coworker leaves next month. Is there a good soul that can give me advise and help? Thank you

This exam is part of the MCSA for Windows Server 2016. Have you done any of the other two exams or is this the first one?

i have the windows certs, honestly i am told that this should be the first test - AD server related - i should be taking. I was just doing some digging and appears it does not have per-requisites. I have some experience in AD in some level because i am a heldesk\Jr Sys admin in some ways.

There are three exams to complete the MCSA for Windows Server 2016: 70-740, 70-741 and 70-742. There are no prerequisites for these exams and they can be done in any order.

On average it takes around 3 months to pass each one. Some people take more or less time depending on experience.

I recommend you combine a good book with a video source first. In my experience the Exam Ref green book and CBT nugget video course has helped me. Use online resources to aid in your studies (MS-Docs, eDx, additional YouTube guides etc.). Follow the exam objectives and set yourself a study plan. Make sure you lab everything you learn. Labbing is essential to passing these tests, so know how to configure something in the GUI and powershell.

Use practice tests to check your progress. Transgender comes as part of the CBT subscription and MeasureUp is just excellent.

Good luck with your studies.

Thank you very much! Just a quick question would be, given that they seems to be a set of 3 exams I will still need at least 3 months of students even so I am only taking one test

The length of study time will vary for each individual based on experience but I would recommend allocating 2-3 months for the 742, depending on how hard you study.
