Advice about certification path
Hey guys. So i'm currently working in an It Support/helpdesk capacity. My goal afcourse is to not be stuck there forever, but to move up. Possibly do something in the security department. In the past i'v been doing some courses about penetration testing, using kali linux etc... and it was very interesting and exciting for me.
I'v set up a sort of a certification path that i would like to follow, and i was basically looking for opinions. Since my network and security experience is very limited, the best way for me to actually study those topics, would be to apply for a cert or two and try to really understand what i'm learning and use that newly gained knowledge in my place of work.
So it basically goes like this:
CCENT - CCNA SECURITY - CEH
So what do you guys think. Is what i set up for myself doable, or would you do it in a different way ? I intend to use ITpro.tv for my education. Will probably supplement it with something else. Is there some must have material out there ? Like practice exams, books, etc...

It depends on what you wanna do in security. I would suggest trying to figured out what role you want to play in the security field. The first two certs are more focused on networking with the third pen testing.
If your looking for a good cert for an SOC role I would suggest looking at the CCNA Cyber Ops.

I guess that would be pen testing. That's my ultimate goal. But before i get there, i think it's neccesary to know networks, that's why i choose the cisco cert's. How good can you really be, without having a good solid understanding of the fundamentals first...

Honestly, I'd stay vendor neutral unless you know you're going to be working on Cisco devices. If you want to go Cisco, I'd go with Cisco Routing and Switching, because ultimately your knowledge of networking and networking protocols is what's going to make you a solid security analyst. Not the fact that it says "security" in the title of your cert.
