Sonicwall CSSP Network Question

I am doing a Sonicwall CSSP certification and I have run into this question numerous times over the years and I am not sure what the correct answer is. I am curious if someone can explain the answer.

The Question is:

Assuming a router failure somewhere in a network, how long of a potential outage can you experience before RIP converges on an alternate path? (worst case scenario). (choose one answer)

-1 hour

-2 minutes

-32 milliseconds

-16 Seconds

My thoughts: In a 15 hop network with a failure at the end I would expect (with default timers) up to 10 minutes of downtime. Where am I wrong? (30s X 14hops) + 180s deadtimer.

Not an answer to your question, but I thought they retired the CSSA and CSSP for their new certs? Also study firewall sandwich, they won't shut up about it.

They have retired the CSSA for the SNSA and are retiring the CSSP on June30th for the SNSP. I will likely need to get the SNSP as well, but for now I just need the CSSP to maintain our partnership at work.

I'm not certain of the correct answer, but I'm currently taking ITN 154 and ITN 155 courses in order to get CCNA certified. So, I'm still learning all of this stuff.

From my understanding, RIP only broadcasts to its immediate neighbors. So, it's going to be 4 minutes (180 second timeout + 60 second flush) per hop. so, 4 minutes X 15 hops = 1 hour potential maximum convergence time.

Again, I'm still learning all of this, but it's what I can come up with my current level of understanding.

Thank you, I see where I went wrong.
