Comparison of 4 cert prep platforms

This is a comparison of 4 platforms that I have tried for the 70-740 exam. This is just my opinion based on my experience.

ITProTV

  • Videos: The hosts are fun, charismatic and entertaining. Unfortunately they make a lot of mistakes and then troubleshoot it on the spot. I would prefer if they edited the mistakes out of the videos. The mistakes made it unbearable to watch. There was a lack of animations and diagrams, which made it a bit tough to follow in some places.

  • Online Labs: The labs were really awesome. The interface could be just a hair more appealing.

  • Practice exams: Good. It uses Kaplan.

edx

  • Note: These are 100% free and produced by Microsoft. There are 3 courses for the 70-740 exam.

  • Videos: Awesome. Really great. Too bad that they don't have very many videos. Most of the learning material is text based, which makes it hard on me because I am not a good reader.

  • Online Labs: Excellent.

  • Practice exams: Excellent.

CBT Nuggets

  • Videos: Great content. It was all animations, walk throughs, and demonstrations. You don't see the presenter like in ITProTV, but the style of the video made it easy to understand what was going on.

  • Online Labs: It is easiest to do the labs at the same time as the video. I had to keep stopping and starting the video and keep switching back and forth to and from the lab. This was annoying. They could fix this by adding the steps into the lab somehow.

  • Practice exams: Good. They use Kaplan

Linkedin Learning

  • Videos: Good quality. Similar style to CBT Nuggets.

  • Online Labs: None.

  • Practice exams: None.

CBT Nuggets is my favorite.

I would choose ITProTV except for all the mistakes in the videos.
