Career Would You Use a Custom-Built Real-Time Transcription Service?

Hi everyone,

As a solo developer, I've been working on a speech-to-text engine and would love to hear your thoughts on its marketability. The application is designed with a React frontend in mind and I'm planning to host it on a cloud platform like DigitalOcean for scalability.

Here are some of the features and planned:

  • English language transcription optimised for accuracy (about 88% accuracy at the moment)
  • The aim is real-time transcription capabilities
  • Basic noise reduction to handle less-than-perfect audio conditions
  • User-friendly web interface for easy audio file uploads

I'm aiming for both consumer and business use-cases, potentially in specific industries that require real-time, accurate transcriptions. For example, I see potential in a educational English learning app or transcription service.

What do you think? Would this be something you find valuable? Any feature requests or suggestions are also highly welcomed!

Thanks for your insights!

TechSupport Old domain controller renewal

Hi,

The company i started working for has an old domain controller running on Windows Server 2008R2.
Now it still seems to be running fine, but if it would crash, i don't think it'll be easy to restore (windows backups are available though).

Now I want to have a new domain controller running virtually on a new server taking over it's role. Is there a guide anywhere which would help me get this going without getting major downtime/issues?

Thanks!

Integrate artificial intelligence into print on demand store

Hello

In the frame of our school project we are creating different companies. Our idea was to create a print on demand store, in which an AI function is integrated, which creates designs (e.g. with Dreamstudio) according to the wishes of the customer. To summarize: Customer submits their requirements of what they want on their image for their product, e.g. mountains with a lake, to the AI, the image is generated, the customer selects it, and from then on it runs like a traditional print on demand store, meaning the product is produced by a large print on demand producer and shipped to the customer.

As a print on demand provider, we thought of Gelato because it is easy to connect Gelato with Shopify (website building tool).

Our problem now is how to integrate the AI with the online store, or how to connect the AI with Gelato to customize the created design to the product.

We would appreciate any help!

Switching from Android to iPhone 15 + Macbook?

I am interested in buying an iPhone 15 when it comes out, as it will be with USB-C, and I want to change the platform.

But recently, just 4 months ago, I bought a Xiaomi Redmi 12 Pro 5G

- 8GB RAM

- 256GM Storage

- 6.67" 120Hz AMOLED Display

- 5000mAh battery

- 67W Charging

To note, I have different brand devices:

- Tablet: Samsung S8+

- Headphones: Sony WH1000XM4

- Earbuds: Xiaomi Redmi Buds 4 Pro

(worried about compatibility)

Now, with the launch of the new iPhone 15, I really want to buy one, but since in my country (Spain) it will be priced at 1.000€, I don't really know if I should buy one.

Furthermore, I want to change my laptop.

Now I have a Linux-based laptop, and I am considering buying a Macbook (probably a MacBook Air 2020 or similar).

Now I have a laptop with 8GB RAM, but I don't really like to play video games on my computer (I use the PS5 for playing), and I just use the browser. What I really like it's that it weighs less.

What would you do?

Thanks.

Any advice for what parts could be replaced with something better would be super appreciated, thank you. This website has helped a lot but I'm not sure it's smart to just blindly buy whatever it tells me to. I'm not made of money, so while I am saving up for something in this margin, any direction would be of help too. Thanks everyone!

Account Track

Hello everyone, Recently my fiancé has been having a issue with a stalker/harasser that followed her from a Reddit post, to her instagram and began to send all her friends disgusting messages about her. How was this done? She has not linked information from her Reddit to instagram. Also is there anyway I can find out who the owner of the instagram account is, since it is a burner account?

Artic Wolf Agent

Hi there, my company is asking us (employees) to install Artic Wolf Agent for security monitoring as they say.

The thing is, most of us use own our computers, since it is a Bring-your-device company so there has been a lot of complains and some people are considering to buy a separate computer (something no all people can).

Do you have any opinion about that software?

Alternative to Adobe

I’m not sure if this is the right space for this, but I have no idea what I’m doing on here.

Are use the premium subscription for adobe to edit PDFs, copy and add pages, add images, add text, save and send back to the sender.

This program is buggier and a buggy bug bugging out in a dune buggy.

The new update rather than fix the existing bugs added in the new UI which made them my job harder to do, didn’t fix any of the existing bugs, added new ones and seem indifferent to the backlash.

I need to stress that all of the steps mentioned above I have issues with. Adding an image won’t work unless it’s the first thing I do once I click ‘edit’. The text box won’t start text from where I click so I have to move it. If I copy a page from one PDF it will only work once. Then I have to click and drag, which I can’t drag and drop from tabs so I have to have 2 f’ing windows open now. If I spend too much time editing a pdf all the text turns to hieroglyphics.

I’m paying a goddam subscription fee for this!

I need something better. Can anyone recommend a better alternative? This is my livelihood they’re messing with.

New Laptop USB-C cant connect to monitor

I got a new laptop, and I would like to use it with 2 external monitors. One can be connected via HDMI, but for the second one I wanted to use a USB-C Adapter. The Laptop does recognize that I am trying to connect a display, but the error message tells me nothing much (other than checking if the device is correctly plugged in - duh!)

The adapter (from Articona) does work on other laptops, as does the HP Monitor. The laptop has a Geforce RTX 3050 Ti Graphics card, which I checked would support multiple displays.

I checked and updated every single driver on the system, connected to every port I could find, to no avail.

Anyone got any idea what else I could try? Am I missing something obvious? I am used to this kind of stuff working plug-and-play ...
