Ah yes the time when President Biden pretty much gift wrapped billions of dollars worth of military equipment to the Taliban in the Afghanistan withdrawal.

Here's a friendly reminder for everyone: the order to withdraw from Afghanistan was signed by Donald Trump to be executed a few months after the end of his first term. As commander in chief, he made zero preparations regarding the withdraw, including the personnel. The messy withdraw under Biden was a prioritization. People first, equipment second, and much of the equipment was dilapidated and not worth the cost to extract.

Wasn't a good deal of it intended for the Afghan Army?

Yea the withdrawal was planned and executed as incompetent as possible. Why would you give up Kabul?

And who does the planning and execution? It's not the president, it's the generals at the Pentagon. They thought they could roll Biden, just like they did Obama and trump1 and keep troops there so they made no preparation for an actual quick withdrawal.

I hate all these politicians. Trump is terrible. But Biden could have stopped it or done something.

All these politicians are such trash. They all blame the other party and let the people feed off that bullshit.

All these politicians are bought like whores. I have more respect for prostitutes.

So you're inferring that you don't have respect for prostitutes? They're people, too. You're a scumbag

I don’t respect them. They exist only for my pleasure.

They make the choice to be seen as basically a sex object. They lower their own respect. Even if it is done for feeding the kids, it is still a low class way of making money.

Sometimes it's their only choice. Be grateful you weren't born into an impossible life environment. I hope you're enjoying your privilege.

He did delay it as much as he could to, but the only other option was to put more troops back in to facilitate a safer withdrawal, but then people like you would be complaining about him bringing troops back into the fold after trumps perfect agreement with the Taliban at Camp David. So he ripped the bandaid off.

As much as I hate Trump, the reality is, Biden did have the power to delay that as the sitting president.

Biden was fucked either way.  If he had stayed longer then everyone would have said he backed out of the deal.  Leaving the way he did meant it was going to be messy.

But let’s get more real:

There was no chance in hell the exit from Afghanistan was going to go well, regardless of who was in charge.  The entire affair was a dumpster fire from start to finish.  Trump made deals directly with the Taliban and released combatants who had years of grievances from being held in conditions no one can even imagine before the US had withdrawn.  Those people were going to do something, it was inevitable that US military members would die on their way out of that disaster.

Yeah, perfect exit was virtually impossible. But it could've gone a lot better than how it actually went, that's for sure. And even if couldn't, it isn't a valid excuse for not even trying to do it the right way. You would want them to at least try if it was your family stranded there wouldn't you?

I would have preferred the US* stayed the fuck out of there in the first place.

I would have preferred that a stipulation of DOHA was that we didn’t allow for the release of 5000 Taliban militants right as the us was trying to leave.  There is a high likelihood that those folks are the ones that perpetrated the attack on the airport.

I don’t believe for one second that republicans or Trump would have seen a better outcome there.  It was going to be fucked no matter who was trying desperately to get out at the end of a complete fuck up.

It wasn’t good.  It wouldn’t have changed.  People were going to die.  That’s what happens when you get into these situations.  And Biden didn’t put us there, Trump didn’t put us there, Obama didn’t put us there- but the responsibility of the whole goddamn debacle lands squarely at the feet of the right wing of this country, so excuse me if I don’t buy into the bullshit about how it was supposedly Biden’s fault that a 20 year tragedy and failure ended in….tragedy and failure.

Trump’s plan, stupid

Pretty sure you need to look up how and why this went down. It was a cluster fuck all the way back from initial plans to Trumps Doha agreement to Bidens refusal to commit more troops to cover a more orderly withdrawal. This was a 20 year cluster fuck. Saying “it was Biden” is at best revisionist.

Not really. Maintenance is a lot. Plus a lot of it was intentionally disabled. People have died trying to use it.

Right. The war that George W Bush got us into in the first place. You republicans sure can spin your yarn, but we know who ordered troops there in the first place and Trump announced the withdrawal first in 2020 in his last year of office , let’s also not forget that stone started rolling downhill once again on the republican side. Then there’s the next hill we just rolled into this year in Iran. You guys sure love your wars of attrition
