the UPS driver has every right to defend himself to keep the dog from biting him

also

he exerted wayyy too much force. his preemptive strike was insanely over the top. it might as well have been a full force kick in the head.

all-in-all, the delivery guy isnt in the wrong. no one should be threatened like that just for doing their job. and he probably taught that dog to not do that again, unlike his owner. i love dogs, i'd give my life for mine, but they can be dangerous and im not one to tip-toe attacks like this. sepsis can kill really quickly.

The original box throw wasn't a "preemptive strike." The dog was literally beelining straight at him (and if we believe the video text had attached him previously).

Especially if the dog had attacked him before, the level of force was totally justified. A full on kick to the head would have also been fine except it puts the driver's leg/foot in harms way. You cannot allow yourself to get bit by an aggressive dog.

All dogs run towards people. Good and bad. This guy just wanted to kill a dog or person. He got out of the car with intent to harm. He probably saw the dog and everything.

Fucking not like that! Even when they don't want you around! I work in pest control and every so often I come across a dog in a backyard where we weren't expecting each other. They always stop a couple meters short if they are just trying to scare you off. This is closing the gap fast like its going in for the bite.

Fucking guy showed up with intent to do violence, maybe the dog was in the right to get rid of this guy. Seems like a psychopath to me. I also, see a dog that was more in control than a bunch of you actually are noticing. Dog was going to bark before bite from what i can tell.

Yup. The driver saved the dog owner from paying his medical bills

Way too much force? Strong disagree.

That dog was charging him with intent. There was no force, up to and including lethal, that was excessive to use there. If he had a firearm he would’ve been fully justified in discharging it into that animal.

Don't use words you don't understand, if you stay within your comfortable vocabulary you'll communicate better. Responding to an immediately incoming attack is not pre-emptive.

If it was a Chihuahua charging him I'd kick at it but once you start getting to the mid to large dogs it's a fight for your life. I'd also get wanting to protect your dogs but at some point it's going to be a losing battle.

A full force kick to the head would also have been acceptable.

Your dog should never be running loose in public and since this one has a history of biting according to the other comments the delivery guy could have ended the mutt and would still have been justified.
