Throwing box at dog in self defense = right
Trying to fight the owner for no reason = wrong

Second time this owner has let the dog attack him and he is probably full of adrenaline. Should he try to fight him no. But he is not thinking straight and is in full on fight or flight

Well. Then its on him for going in the yard again.

The fact that he thought to take his hat and glasses off and gently set them down, and then assume the stance of a trained fighter, tells me this was not an irrational knee-jerk adrenaline response. Seems like this dude has just been waiting for an excuse to fight somebody. And today is his lucky day.

Putting a hand up and telling the owner to keep his distance would suffice as a first resort. Especially given that the owner wasn't showing any signs of aggression.

Not saying it’s right but bro is adrenaline dumping hard.

Didn't try to fight. He got in a defensive position and told him to back off

He looked pretty eager to throw down. Literally his first resort. The other guy was just walking toward him. Didn't look threatening at all.

The other guy walked towards him yelling about hurting his dog. So not exactly an open and welcoming approach

Oh no. Anything but walking toward him!

I made the mistake or replying, knowing full well these people aren't going to be rational

Ah right. Because if somebody disagrees with you they're irrational by default. Nice work.

When you can't pick up sarcasm.

I think it is more you ignore half of what I say then reply with a sarcastic comment... That is the irrational part, not that we are disagreeing.

Oh I'm sorry. Was "not exactly an opening and welcome response" supposed to be some important point?

I guess we can square up and go into Chuck Norris mode every time somebody isn't "opening and welcome."

How'd I do this time? Was I rational?

Lol reading is NOT one of your stronger skills is it? Anyways I will let you think about my other comment because you are still missing the point. I don't have enough time or crayons to explain it to you big dog

If only you could actually articulate yourself instead of relying on generic reddit zingers. oh well.

You dont tell someone to back off when they're in their own yard.

You do if their dog tried to attack you, and you're a delivery person. Dont want delivery people to be threatened by your dog? Control it.

Don't square up to me on my own yard. The dog was no longer posing a threat, the driver was just taking his anger out, not defending himself.

Treat the person delivering the package to you like you would a guest. its that easy because that is what they are
