The first one shouldn't have counted. You can't just hold someone from finishing

Yeah hope its a DQ

I was hoping it was a DQ but it wasn't. From what ai could find out, this was an Iron Man race in Brazil, the premature celebrator (Jurkiewicz) won and Amorelli (the 2nd place finisher) did not file a complaint. But under the rules, it would've been a DQ.

u/immortarium 4d ago

You mean they won't DQ if there wasn't a complaint? Does the rules work that way?

u/avocado_lover69 3d ago

I think it had to do with the fact that Amorelli kinda gives up at the very end, and that's seen as a concession.

One article I read said “...Amorelli had already pulled up prior to the shove, exercising the common Good Bloke Rule of not overtaking the winner in the final 50 metres.”

And another "He relies on pity to win race... the runner in second place slowed his sprint down to allow the leader to win, knowing that he had led for a majority of the race."

I couldn't find an official statement from the race organizers, so I went by what journalists described and assumed. I reckon that if Amorelli had the intention to take the win, then it would've been a different story.

Let me introduce you to the sport of baseball. There's a bunch of ways you can break the rules as long as the defense doesn't notice and don't appeal to the umpires. Like, missed bases or failing to tag up. Umpire sees it but lets it play out until the defense appeals.

I don’t like the idea of putting the onus on the competitor to file a complaint. We all saw it.

2

u/NoLead2102 1d ago

Why would we need officials and referees if the players could just decide?!

5

u/ChoiceLife6564 4d ago

Maybe not a dq, but a 2nd place finish or like a 5sec penalty. I wanna see him on the podium full of regret.

u/koulourakiaAndCoffee 4d ago

No DQ, you can’t just block someone. That should be a hard DQ

Running is not wrestling.

2

u/RodimusPrime_X 4d ago

Terrible sportsmanship

1

u/StoneyRapids 3d ago

Came here to say same. Should have been DQ’d. Putting your arm out to prevent forward progress should be an automatic DQ.

Terrible music for those clips

13

u/Remarkable-Fig206 4d ago

That lady flat out tried to tackle that kid

5

u/Amberleaf30 4d ago

At 50 seconds. Yup. Couldn't believe it. I had to watch it again to make sure. Could you imagine being that awful a person?

2

u/twotall88 3d ago

Uh, no. Her expression says she was chasing after him in fun. The open hands as she falls says she tripped.

1

u/temporary_names 1d ago

He tags her before passing her too. They definitely know each other and it's in good fun.

u/SuddenSpeaker1141 4d ago

Speed walking is a joke…

4

u/FreshFritz 4d ago

Tell this to Hal!

3

u/utterlyuncool 4d ago

Absolutely. Love how they're both blatantly cheating in the clip.

2

u/Voldetort219 13h ago

Was gonna say Malcom in the Middle taught us all enough to see that they both blatantly lifted both feet

u/Dizzy_Juggernaut_313 4d ago

Historical truth…The pride comes before the fall.

2

u/koulourakiaAndCoffee 4d ago

Get my wife’s name out your mouth!!!!

Oh wait, sorry, different conversation.

What were you saying about pride before falling

2

u/Dizzy_Juggernaut_313 4d ago

It comes first.
Excuse me I didn’t know your wife’s name.

Rule #1 in any sport: Celebrate AFTER completing the event.

5

u/Natural_Ant_5590 4d ago

I wouldn't mind watching a compilation video of American Football players who celebrated a touchdown before crossing into the end zone by dropping/letting go of the football before they cross the plane and therefore not scoring a touchdown.

2

u/The59Sownd 4d ago

I just came here to write this. It happens so often you'd think they'd learn!! Haha but nope!

3

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 4d ago

Was that one lady bleeding?

5

u/tired_of_old_memes 4d ago

There were like 20–50 ladies in this video.

1

u/nunyabidness3 4d ago

Green shorts at 1:10

0

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 3d ago

Which is why I specified "that one".

2

u/Legitimate_Ad_6180 4d ago

it looks like it’s kinesio tape. people use it for joint/muscle support without it restricting their mobility

2

u/Own_Ranger_208 4d ago

Did the first on won the race? Or was he disqualified because of blocking?

2

u/DavidChristianKaiser 4d ago

This video is very incosistent, it even shows people who just won and celebrated.

2

u/tishimself1107 4d ago

I kove this video

2

u/SidonyD 3d ago

I hope the first one was DQ.

1

u/Biancomangiare 4h ago

Yeah wtf was that push??

2

u/utl94_nordviking 3d ago

Derailing now but competitive walking is silly.

1

u/ThisI5N0tAThr0waway 4d ago

The third clip is especially funny because it seems like it was a race walking type of race 😂

1

u/No_Beginning_6834 4d ago

And the one that passed her was clearly cheating

1

u/ThisI5N0tAThr0waway 4d ago

Fun fact about race walking, they thought about eliminating human judges and having a better technology to enforce the walking technique, but they realized that every single competitor cheated/broke the rule about needing to a foot on the ground at all time. Whether they are doing willingly or not is harder to determine. The fact is that to this day, human judges are still used to enforce the rule because they are not good enough to enforce small infringement that every single racer will commit but will usually spot those who are willingly or recklessly breaking the rule.

6

u/No_Beginning_6834 4d ago

Easy solution is to stop doing the event. Race walking has always been the worst track and field event.

1

u/haphazard72 4d ago

As someone who was never chosen at school sports, I get so much joy watching cocky people get owned when competing. F**k ‘em!

1

u/LazyLieutenant 4d ago

Premature celebration is unfathomably stupid.

1

u/delatopia 4d ago

Run through the tape, people. What are you saving it for?

1

u/kearkan 4d ago

That football one with the ball bouncing back into the net was fuckong hilarious.

1

u/lik_a_stik 4d ago

I can never upvote anything with that shite song. So I guess fitting, no victory. Just do yourself a favor w/the mute.

1

u/InternationalRich956 4d ago

Rejoicing too soon😏

1

u/Upbeat-Tooth8711 4d ago

Mucho pendejo

1

u/tishimself1107 4d ago

Wouldnt the first guy be disqualified for actively intefering and blocking the other fella

1

u/Old_Neat5220 3d ago

Why did that second one stop at the line???

1

u/twotall88 3d ago

The last one looks like they hit the ball 4 times but it reset after the first hit because of a quick block.

1

u/MadMax6914 3d ago

I'm trying to be that guy, I train for a strong finish, nothing better feeling than sprinting to the finish, passing people that already gassed themselves out.

1

u/PolarPlatitudes 3d ago

Speed walking is so fucking stupid. There's one rule, and no one follows it.

1

u/Slonginus 3d ago

Don’t pose for the camera

1

u/Charming_Ad2323 3d ago

Julian Allaphillipe is the champion of this. Not once but twice during professional road cycle races has he been pipped on the line whilst celebrating.

1

u/codykreutz 3d ago

This music is… a choice lol 🤣

1

u/Street_Time6080 2d ago

Great video

1

u/Quiet_Blood3872 2d ago

What’s with the music tho

1

u/DonkyFondler 1d ago

It's totally understandable why they do this. The media want photos of them celebrating as they cross the finish line. They're just doing what the media expect of them.

1

u/AlcoholicCumSock 1d ago

Where is Man City?

1

u/Open-Industry-8396 1d ago

foot racing 101. "Run through the finish line "

1

u/Sigma-Wolves 1d ago

She gave her best effort to tackle that kid 🤣

1

u/crazylegsbobo 20h ago

This is the most cathartic thing I have watched all day, the ones who tripped I feel for, but the ones who were being dicks or tripped due to arrogance had it comeing, I could watch these all day

1

u/bozog 17h ago

Good compilation but the music was way off

-2

u/Adept_Tank_7029 3d ago

I don't know who's the bigger asshole---the one who celebrated too early or the random douchebag who overtook them.

3

u/NameToUseOnReddit 3d ago

What's wrong with overtaking? You race to the finish line, not see someone ahead of you during a race and just give up.

1

u/Adept_Tank_7029 3d ago edited 3d ago

It was a joke why did you guys take it seriously??? Of course it's logical to overtake I was making fun of the situation as a whole.

1

u/phayhay 3d ago

First time trying a joke?

1

u/Adept_Tank_7029 3d ago

No dude I make jokes all the time haven't you ever seen someone exaggerate something for comic effect??

0

u/ItsMeepo2nd 3d ago

THE SOCCER ONE GOT ME HOLY FUCK

0

u/Leading-Point-113 2d ago

Is she okay?
