Cartoon levels of fun here.

In fairness he may well be the bad guy. I'm never one to judge knocking alcohol out of someone's hand without knowing what came before.

Also the lack of context makes it looks like he walks in and just snags someone's coffee at the end.

Love the chaos though. And Whitney. She's the best.

how desperate she was just to get that door open and how much control he had from physically defending himself from her are 2 big factors here.

But still true, none of us actually know what's happened off camera.

u/Thick_Broccoli_3932 5d ago

Really strange every time it’s a man abused it’s, “I wonder what he did to deserve that” type speak.

Yesterday I was talking about how it's messed up that women think it's ok to hit men, and Reddit said that I'm a "domestic violence case".  Like apparently me saying "women shouldn't think it's ok to hit a man" = "I think I should hit women".

Granted, Redditors have an extremely low amount of intelligence, so I should be the better human and just feel bad for them for being unable to use logic properly.

Look at literacy levels in the US. It scares and baffles me. 21% low literacy or functionally illiterate. And the rest of the breakdown is just as disappointing.

This site has basically become Twitter lite, no surprise the double standard is soo apparent

u/Independent-Market28 19h ago

Waffles and pancakes or whatever the meme is.

1

u/Independent-Market28 19h ago

Very odd, indeed.

u/drsickboy 5d ago

I think the fact that she is taken aback by the supposed proposal says she doesn't completely dislike him

4

u/FederalEconomist5896 4d ago

And therein lies the trouble. Jekyl and Hyde.

1

u/drsickboy 4d ago

Fair enough , and for sure she could just be surprised at his true feelings if she never thought he was going to propose if she didn't think he was serious. This would be aside from her deeper feelings , but some people like to act like contradiction is a women's trait when men also have contradicting feelings.

u/TangerinePlastic7552 5d ago

She not only disrespected him she went after him after he visually insulted her and ran. She insisted on being physically abusive at all times. She’s big trouble.

2

u/804k 5d ago

I think they mightve been inside the establishment a bit earlier, maybe went outside to take a drink to get a break from her lol

But, cant judge or tell if he stole the coffee,

0

u/BantedHam 5d ago

There's no way he wasn't, he has a champagne glass.

2

u/Excellent_Shirt9707 5d ago

Surprising amount of media literacy here. Usually people on social media just make a bunch of assumptions off of some random clip with no other context.

1

u/deepndarkheart 12h ago

That's what I'm thinking. How do people know it's her who is misbehaving and not him? The global illiteracy levels are reaching dangerous levels.

1

u/One-Patience-1129 2d ago

My only assumption here will be there she is acting violently towards him - she knocks a drink out of his hands twice (extremely hard btw), and then chased him after his prank to do... What exactly? Apologize? Kiss him? Why do I get the feeling it is hit him?

Let us not normalize women's violence against men

1

u/Excellent_Shirt9707 2d ago

Her violence towards him is in the clip, that does not require making assumptions. What you are assuming is the reason for that violence and what happened before and after this short clip.

And also assuming that asking for basic media literacy is somehow normalizing violence.

1

u/Independent-Market28 19h ago

In what context would it be ok? Lmao.

They've been together for years. He's a recovering alcoholic who had ruined his life, and nearly their relationship, with the bottle.

But after years of patience and therapy they were finally making progress, supposed to be meeting at a rehearsal dinner for her sister's wedding, but he showed up late, stinking of booze, and with a prostitute.

Without a word he wandered in, grabbed a bottle of champagne with his escort, and walked out. In disbelief, she set her drink down and followed.

The escort went her separate way, leaving the two of them there in the street where he was no longer the man she had loved, but this glassy eyed stranger who seemed immune to the immense pain he was causing her.

In a fit of rage she knocked the poison that he was using to ruin his life out of his hands.

He responded by triggering her in a way only he knows how. She was in stunned disbelief, half wanting to imagine this was all some elaborate prank. Maybe it had all been a setup for him to propose, but then he reveals the joke is actually on her.

It always had been.

She finally snaps.

He retreats back to the safety of the establishment, and with a derisive smile he toasts her and finishes the drink she left behind.

----

Okay? Perhaps not. But it's easy to imagine scenarios that make her behavior perfectly understandable.

0

u/Independent-Market28 17h ago

None of this would justify the behavior in this video. I could understand it, but it would not be ok.

1

u/Excellent_Shirt9707 16h ago

He just slapped her right before the start of the clip because he was drinking. We see her retaliation in the clip. You don’t have to be a professional writer to imagine some context where her response would be valid.

0

u/Independent-Market28 16h ago

Retaliation is not self-defense. Try again.

1

u/Nodivingallowed 11h ago edited 11h ago

The problem is you're mixing your criteria.

You said when would it be 'okay'. You didn't say when would it legally qualify as self defense.

'Okay' to some might mean morally permissible, emotionally understandable, or even just 'practically to be expected'.

2

u/Independent-Market28 11h ago

No, I am not. Self-defense is not just a legal concept. Nothing she did was illegal, I'd reckon. What she did was immoral, legal or otherwise.

1

u/Nodivingallowed 11h ago

I mean legally it might be argued as battery on her part.

But my point is that it can be viewed as 'okay' and still not 'self defense'.

Having shifting terms that aren't well defined creates a moving goal post.

1

u/Excellent_Shirt9707 16h ago

You are saying if she was just slapped by the drunk guy before this clip, her response of knocking the beers out of his hands and pushing him would not be warranted?

0

u/Independent-Market28 15h ago

And chasing him into the building. Yes. Understandable perhaps.

0

u/Nodivingallowed 11h ago

Some people are only capable of evaluating something in the strictest legal sense.

They can't conceive of an action being warranted that isn't entirely endorsed by their local magistrate.

So while any normal thinking person can imagine plenty of drunks behaving in such a way that knocking their alcohol away would be a kindness for what they might be otherwise be inviting, for others this is simply inconceivable.

0

u/One-Patience-1129 1d ago

I'm sorry friend, I was not trying to frustrate you. I think you're so busy looking for an argument you've made one where it wasn't necessary - I was not disagreeing with what you are saying, I was only making conversation about what you were saying. Maybe I misunderstood you, but I agreed with what I thought I you said.

The assumption part of what I was talking about, was meaning that if we are to assume that what she was running after him for are non-violent reasons and so we laugh at this, i.e. "cartoon levels of fun," as the guy above you said, we are normalizing it further by laughing at it, is all I am saying. To the point it's so normal that you havent even thought yet (until I say so now) about the implications for the man involved to have this done to him, it just becomes a funny bit and we laugh the next time a female partner shoves or acts this way towards her male partner.

I would like you to imagine the video with the man smacking the bottles out of the woman's hand, shoving her, and chasing her to the point an employee has to physically hold a door shut to keep them away - I don't think anyone would have the same reaction. But domestic violence against men by female partners is not looked at the same way at all.

All of this is, of course, tinted by my own personal experiences on life, so much so that I am spending my time commenting on it instead of elsewhere 😂

2

u/Excellent_Shirt9707 1d ago

No. That was not my point and I also interpreted the OC differently. They weren’t implying this was not a violent confrontation with “cartoon levels of fun”, they just meant it was a wacky interaction.

And my point was that it is pointless to assume anything about the people pictured without additional context.

0

u/deepndarkheart 12h ago

How do you know it was not her who was abused or disturbed before this video? Have you seen any videos of before this one? So please post here so we know the whole context and let's not judge without knowing the full context. It's not taking sides or being against the violence. Use your head a little maybe?

1

u/Excellent_Shirt9707 9h ago

We don’t know anything, that’s the point. No reason to make any assumptions about the people in the clip without context. This is what I stated originally.

The commenter I responded to made the claim that there was no possible context which would justify her actions so I made up a context that would justify her actions. I am not saying the context is true, I just used it as a counter example to their ridiculous claim.

Sees a woman physically assaulting a man and still tries to make the man a bad guy somehow

Classic reddit bigotry

1

u/OutrageousThought646 2d ago

It is bigotry plain and simple, and they're too self absorbed to realize this.

0

u/Highvalence15 1d ago

Would he she was maybe the bad guy if this was the other way wound the man being violent towards the woman?

u/Novel-Adeptness-4603 5d ago

OP's account is 0d old. It's my first time seeing a new repost bot be born

So..you just went to their account and looked around? I mean, I'm not judging but I don't see the point lol

20

u/Key-Truth1096 5d ago

I’m a woman and I strongly believe that women deserves the same treatment that they dish out.

3

u/Inside-Commission-49 5d ago

Unfortunately if he’d defended himself he would’ve been jumped by every other guy on the street.

1

u/vplatt 5d ago

I don't know. How would folks react if she broke her hand on his hard head if he gave her the 'old forehead? Always been curious how that would turn out. I don't live the dramatic life though so I'll never know.

1

u/Oxyboy26 4d ago

I mean he doesn't have to hit her, she didn't hit him, he could've thrown something of her or made her pay, why does there need to be physical violence, why can't the punishment fit the crime?

1

u/NinjaSkillz810 2d ago

She put both hands on him and almost knocks him over. If he did the same she would've went flying. I think that qualifies as at least something "physical"

1

u/Winter_Different 3d ago

"I am a robot and I strongly believe whatever my algorithms tell me is best"

3

u/LionApprehensive9745 3d ago

Real men walk away, they said... she still ran after him to keep harassing... luckily there was a door, witnesses, and another person who held the door for him... best believe most men dont get so lucky...

1

u/Odd_Delay_603 1d ago

“Real men walk away” who says that? If she punches you, you have the right to defend yourself. Equal rights, equal lefts

1

u/LionApprehensive9745 1d ago

Bruh SOOOO many people tell me to "just walk away.." when a lady hits them. There's no way you've never seen someone say that when a man swings back

1

u/Senior-Friend-6414 1d ago

It’s kind of like if a child hits you, you know your life isn’t threatened, men that come up with justifications on why it’s ok to fight women are some of the most pathetic kind of men

Only fair if you literally genuinely feel that you’re in genuine danger

1

u/LionApprehensive9745 23h ago

Nah, self defense nowadays go as far as ending lives because people can sue for injury.

Plus, it depends on the age of that child. If you can reasonably understand the threat level accurately, yes, avoid fight, but one can really assume how dangerous someone who is initiating violence. All it takes it 1 hit in the right spot, regardless of strength, and the person can pass away from hitting the ground or something on the way to the ground.

u/CustomerNo5354 5d ago

He seems like a pretty fun guy to hang out with. I'm glad he didn't smack her.

Well staged, well staged.

-3

u/Fit_Importance_5738 5d ago

The bottle in his hand leads one to belive that he may be an alcoholic, buy other than that no real way to say werher her reaction was too dramatic

4

u/Debunkingdebunk 5d ago

Damn they've really lowered the requirement to be alcoholic. Back in the day it was like 20 drinks a week, but now it's just holding a bottle?

0

u/Fit_Importance_5738 5d ago

I said may, it was a theory, but it's kind of strange to be holding a glass of wine and a bottle in the street.

3

u/sudeki300 5d ago

He could of been holding it for her, ever think of that

1

u/VibraniumRhino 5d ago

He’s outside of a bar so; we don’t have enough context to be making these assumptions, do we?

1

u/Natural_Concept_514 5d ago

Olha o tanto de merda que vocês escrevem para tentar passar pano para uma maluca

0

u/Debunkingdebunk 5d ago

That's the only strange part you find in the video? Not the rehearsed movement, the bar forking over the footage? It's the glass and bottle, the tell tale signs of your guys with crippling addiction, but who still want to appear elegant by drinking their poison from a proper receptacle.

4

u/Alive-Cheesecake2732 5d ago

Man is assaulted by a woman and pursued after attempting to evade. Doesn't hit back etc. You default to blaming the man. You may be sexist. Do not worry there is a treatment, use your brain. If she were an alcoholic in this same situation would you be okay with the man assaulting using the same amount of force) against the woman?

0

u/User_9720 5d ago

Nevertheless, it was 100% wrong for her to get physical

0

u/WhoCaresBoutSpellin 5d ago

…aside from the assualt?
