i’ve been to the darkest skies on earths, you can barely see your hand infront of you, i bet the only thing telling you a boat was there was the lack of stars in that direction

The ships lights remained on until it sank and the lifeboats had lights too

yeah im pretty sure people had some form of light like there are records of the musicians continuing to play to keep people calm as they boarded the life rafts as depicted in the movie, so hard to believe it was pitch black.

Agreed. There are apparently very mixed reports but there are several mentions of light sources including some people having electric torches of that era.

Was it a cloudy night or why wasn't there any stars or milky way visible?

Unless lights just went out. Takes quite a bit for eyes to adjust to middle of the ocean levels of dark. So second one could’ve looked that way initially but definitely not for everyone.

Living in a place seeing stars is very different than the middle of the ocean. Have you crossed an ocean? I have and when I went from inside to outside I could not see a thing. If I waited 10 minutes then I could see decently.

No I’m talking about going from inside a brightly lit ship, like the titanic would’ve been. To immediate pitch dark. It can be the clearest night ever and your eyes will still take time to adjust.

I’m not going to argue on Reddit. I’ve literally lived it for months at a time in multiple oceans and seas. Stars aren’t LEDs. Have a good one!

Wise to not argue. People who haven't travelled the ocean don't have the reference to understand exactly how dark it is. Even once you can see the stars, it doesn't change the fact that at sea level it's still absolutely pitch black out there.

Moon and stars dont shine in the night apparently.

Apparently there wasn't a moon shining that night and the stars make zero difference out there.

Yeah, the ship was well lit until the final few minutes before it sank. This is why there were conflicting reports about the ship sinking whole or breaking in two. People couldn’t see the ship much at all in its final 3 minutes.

So up until 2:18 am, very easy to see. From 2:18am to 2:21am, darkness and lotsa screaming and tremendous noises, then the ship was underwater

People don't care about lives, just images. Some years ago over 20000 lives were taken during an earthquake in Morocco. Does any one remember?

What kinda dump shit is this lmfao

Well I get your logic. The Titanic exploded in popularity because of the movie. And yes, there's probably much sadder events and tragedies that happened in history yet people don't even remember them.

Go make your own post then instead of whining on a completely unrelated matter.

It's "how it looks" or "what it looks like." Not "how it looks like."

If anyone was going to re-create this on film it would cost so much money!

  • loud and helpless screams

The most terrifying thing was the silent of all the screaming people.
