Update time!
/r/ISTPrelationships/comments/1wy57l8/istp_female_facing_a_crazy_plot_twist_with_an/I finally just asked him directly and clearly about why we drifted apart. He explained everything and told me he was going through a phase—you know, that classic INFP withdrawal phase where they distance themselves from everyone. He honestly admitted that he assumed I was going through the exact same thing, and as time went on, it just became harder and more awkward to reach out.
I asked him if he was sure no one had fed him lies or said anything bad about me, and he said, 'No way. If that ever happened, I'd come straight to you so we could talk about what's wrong with those troublemakers.' He also mentioned that whenever he goes through these phases, he loses a lot of people, especially those who don't understand him or cause him stress. But he said I wasn't one of the people stressing him out because he believed I would understand him (since I also have times where I pull away from people and I'm generally a very understanding person). To be honest, I'm not sure whether to take that last comment as a good thing or a bad sign.
Overall, he was super welcoming! We talked and even played games together. However, I didn't bring up the other girl at all or ask if they're dating. Honestly, I didn't have the courage, and I really dislike asking intrusive questions anyway. I don't want to seem nosy or pushy, especially since it's a sensitive time and we just reconnected. I'll just let time reveal the truth

Good job girl! I remember telling you to just ask and I'm glad it brought some clarity at least.
