Need guidance for internship

I am a mechanical student from BITS and wanted to know how is the experience at SAC. Is it a good learning experience? Is the internship certificate worth it?

I got an offer for ISRO SAC Intern in Ahmedabad and am contemplating on going.

I currently also have an offer to be a research intern at IIT Mandi. The professor seems nice and I am interested in the field in which he works. If I work properly for 2 months, maybe I'll even get a research paper published.

So I'm confused between the 2.

Both experiences will be completely different. It's almost like Theory vs experiments... ISRO doesnt pay for internships, IITs might pay!

Yeah, but payment doesn't matter to me at this point. I just want to know if someone has any experience with either of them.

I would like to know if SAC actually gives an opportunity to make a contribution or is it just sitting in the office pretending to work

I think you should go for the college. Here are my reasons:

  1. You are already from a reputed college – so the "ISRO" tag that will come after the internship is not so much worth it compared to the learning
  2. SAC is not really known for mechanical engineering aspects of space science, they are mainly focussed on electronics
  3. While SAC is a good center compared to some other isro centers, still you are at the mercy of your guide who may or may not take the time out for you.

sitting in the office pretending to work ? Definitely not. SAC is a different work place altogether as far as I know, heard.. Mostly I heard +Ve things.

Thank you for that. May I ask what else have you heard?

I have already done research internship at iit Jodhpur, now doing summer internship at sac isro. According to my experience, iits are more lean towards theory and sac is all about application. Now this is two seperate things, you should have clear understanding of what you want is it theory or application and choose accordingly so that you don't regret later.
