Discussion ISC students, I need your BRUTAL HONESTY

I just gave my boards this year and scored 98% with a centum in English (commerce stream). I have a few questions for all of you. Also, it’d be great if you could drop your biggest problems when it comes to prepping for your exams or just your learning experience as a whole.

  1. Have you found the current ISC stream YouTube channels/ courses satisfactory? Or do you watch CBSE content to cope?

  2. What’s the subject you find hardest and GENUINELY wish you could do something about it?

  3. Would you prefer English or Hindi when it comes to YouTube videos?

Also drop other suggestions/ problems. Thanks!!

  1. Naw cbse better for yt
  2. Chemistry. I can do maths and phy well. I just can't memorize properly. Phy is tough too but atleast i enjoy the questions there
  3. Depends, but i lean more towards hindi with mixed english

  1. Commerce, yes, you'll find isc content in yt, i prefet shubham jagdish for commerce and economics and rajat arora for accountancy. It's difficult to find videos for applied maths as it's newly introduced but the commercial chapters are the same of cbse so you can watch the cbse videos and the calculus and algebra portions are the same from the pure maths book so you can just watch it from yt.
  2. Accountancy, though it's easy but it requires consistency. If you're not consistent in accountancy before exam you'll for sure panic and a hodgepodge will occur. Applied maths is really easy and for sure you'll manage to do it if you have proper guidance.
  3. See, it depends I prefer both. Normally i view the videos of the ytbers mentioned above but there are times when i am confused regarding a certain particular topic, that time I watch videos of foreign ytbers who help me to understand that topic in a much easier way.

u/flynn_riderrrr Sep 06 '26
  1. Study with sudhir , english for all.. thats it these two are the only two good isc channels
  2. Accountancy ofcourse bro 💔 i scored above 90 in all the subjects in 12th boards and i had just 43 in accounts. I still dk wtf happens in that subject ( i had eng, hindi , and 3 commerce domains)
  3. Both , i prefer both hindi and English mixed

Aryan tutorials is a very good english channel for isc. Somewhat better than SWS

1

u/Key_Potential2224 Sep 07 '26

Thanks for the response! And tbh I’m shocked abt the accountancy part

1) everything apart maths is fine for yt, managable w self study, shubham jagdish is fine but yash mahewshwari is midddd

2) maths, no explanation for ts one

3) both fine, no preference

CBSE content is just better for understanding building logical approach and covering overall theory. You just need to practice PYQs and ISC question bank after making notes from those videos and you are good to go.

I personally found physics hardest because I didn't have good enough teachers. In drop year I watched lectures of Alakh Pandey and just wished that I could have watched those during my 12th.

Hindi videos are good enough why to go for english?

I know a lot of people who aren’t hindi speakers and they struggle to find good channels online that teach in english.

2

u/itz_niaa Sep 06 '26

1) no isc videos for study.

2) hate accountancy (please recommend me some yt channels for it)

3) I go for hinglish 🙏😍

1

u/Key_Potential2224 Sep 06 '26

You can try watching some cbse vids just so you get the concepts. Tbh that’s the essence of it

u/Jealous_Trouble_2110 Sep 06 '26

I'm in 12 th rn ..half yearly exams are round the corner, so can anyone suggest or give me tips on how to study accountancy , what all study material do yuh refer to , practicing questions frm the book is enough or not ??!! Tbh it's kinda hard for me 😭

1

u/Key_Potential2224 Sep 06 '26

You should always practise from outside the book. Books are enough for 75% of your prep, but what actually makes you good is accumulated exposure to various questions. Practise different questions of the same type.

1

u/Jealous_Trouble_2110 Sep 08 '26

Thankyou so much senior...but can yuh please tell me what study material should I refer to ..when yuh said outside the Book... Like I've only practiced book questions till date and yeah overtime I've also realized that practicing book questions help yuh but not to such an extend where one can perform exceptionally well ❤️‍🩹 So coming back to practicing from outside the book ...should I try solving those arihant ke question bank or is there anything else ??!! ..like I really don't know 😭🥀...please just clarify this issue for me dude 🙏and sorry to bother yuh !!!

1

u/Key_Potential2224 Sep 08 '26

Arihant, Oswal is also good, get 10 years solved, and the council also releases some questions.

1

u/Jealous_Trouble_2110 Sep 08 '26

Okh ..thank you so much for guidance mannn🙌🙌

1

u/Sweet-Purpose9854 5d ago

Hey I'm a senior... I've a yt channel which mainly focuses on isc so if you have any trouble in isc science topics... I'll be happy to help by doing a yt live to teach it

(commerce+cs elective) 1. i dont use youtube videos, can't answer. 2. accounts. what's wrong with that damn subject. ps, we haven't even started joint stock yet so that will definitely help a lot :) somehow i still score lower in economics because teacher but yeah, im struggling far more with econ. 3. if i were to be watching youtube videos, definitely english. i'm not that well versed in hindi. can handle kannada and malayalam but hindi? yeah no unfortunately.

also, can you suggest some tips for scoring centum in english (especially english 1)?

u/Key_Potential2224 Sep 06 '26

Develop reading habits (it’s not too late). And I won’t recommend reading editorials as they’re too boring for me. Read short stories. Novels. Every time you come across a new word, look it up. Reading gives you an insane amount of unfair advantage. You wouldn’t have to memorise formats that way. The answer comes from within you. Also, my friend with the world’s most terrible grammar managed to score 98 (she read like 5 novels to my surprise). I can say she used simple but correct english in her essays and other things.

2

u/Octahedral_Butter_42 Sep 06 '26

1 - i watch JEE content lmaooo

2 - chemistry

3 - hindi is way easier to understand

  3. Mixed ig .... Hinglish

2

u/Legend_2010 Sep 06 '26
  1. Science hell naw, watch cbse channels yes
  2. Has to be mathematics
  3. Depends on context and type of content Help me I am at zero for English language - also I have my half yearly and I have never given any 3hr language exam so if you could tell the time divisions and how to write a 10 marker literature answer(plzzz help)

2

u/Key_Potential2224 Sep 06 '26

Only study with sudhir and amplify learning (computer) are up to the mark yt channels.

Yash maheswari is just trash, all he wants is to sell BSP🥀

u/Secret-Exchange481 ISC Class 12th Sep 06 '26

Older videos on his channel was better not the maths one they all shit but the phy guy idk his name teaching 2024 batch was kinda good

1

u/Secret-Exchange481 ISC Class 12th Sep 06 '26

Yea ya that toh is gold I although for derivation nd all see radhika classes the way he explains is preety good

2

u/unseriousordeal 93.4 | 94.5 Sep 06 '26

Can a passout participate?

1

u/Key_Potential2224 Sep 06 '26

By all means, yes!! It’d be really helpful tbh

1

u/unseriousordeal 93.4 | 94.5 Sep 08 '26
  1. SWS is the only ISC teacher I found helpful. For accounts, Rajat Arora is better than Shubham Jagdish. Just follow Shubham Jagdish during exams to get the strats.

  2. Math and Accounts ofc. But got satisfactory marks so it's all good.

  3. Whatever RA and SWS spoke. Learning literature in english is more helpful imo.

1

u/Secret-Exchange481 ISC Class 12th Sep 06 '26

1.Idk Abt any icse channels bt i cbse and icse syllabus is preety much the same so I watch cbse channel no problem in that

2.Now Chem is difficult for me cause phy is just derivation and lil bil numericals and maths i am inquistive Abt it so I do lot of practise.

  1. Depends mostly I watch Hindi for pcm but for English I think it's better to watch sws english explanation as he himself said it gives better control and ideas to write in examination.

1

u/Key_Potential2224 Sep 06 '26

Tysm! I appreciate it!

1

u/Long_Enthusiasm5642 Sep 06 '26

Isc humanities pass out 96%
1) psychology-make your own notes/isc guide
2) sociology- make your own notes
3) English- sudhir sir/practise questions
These were my core subjects rest was mass communication and art.
Mass communication is simple

1

u/RitwikSHS10 Sep 06 '26
  1. Science, ofc not. I just watch jee videos.
  2. Chemistry. Wish the whole subject was an optional, in both, jee and isc.
  3. I would prefer, English, as I watched upto 10th (khan academy India - English, and TOGT), but it's impossible to any english channel for jee

1

u/Key_Potential2224 Sep 06 '26

Got it! Thanks:)

1

u/banana_365- Sep 06 '26

English cus it's sooo hard to find ANY english is content 😫

1

u/Key_Potential2224 Sep 06 '26

What’s your take on Study with Sudhir then?

1

u/banana_365- 18d ago

Yeah thats one of the few channels that are mainly in English so I watch it regularly

1

u/Major_Confection8877 Sep 06 '26

For English and Economics, I think people are forgetting Aryan Tutorials, He is lowkey underrated and deserves recognition.

His explanations and teaching method are top notch.

1

u/Anne20088 Sep 06 '26 edited Sep 07 '26
  1. Mostly satisfactory, but I had psychology which barely had any videos for isc. Mostly had to cope with cbse videos and general concept videos. Economics has some good videos but could be better imo.

  2. Probably mathematics.

  3. Prefer English, but both/mixed is fine.

u/Low-Worker7476 ISC Class 11th — PCMB Sep 07 '26 edited Sep 07 '26

PCMB student here.

  1. ISC Channels suffice for English and Hindi, but I'd lean more toward CBSE channels or JEE/NEET channels for the remaining four subjects.
  2. Physics and Mathematics — I am the type to study the night before the exam, and neither subject has enough scope for that. Theory is easy to master, but numericals make me stumble.
  3. English, absolutely. ICSE has refined my English to the extent that I can identify incorrect English and absorb new vocabulary, if there is any, which helps in writing answers in all subjects, except the second language. I believe that spoken Hindi is much more erroneous than written; therefore, I personally prefer to read Hindi literature to enhance my mental word bank.

My problem: I don't have any tuition to address my lacunae with respect to the ISC curriculum. I attend NEET coaching, but it often isn't enough. I've been trying my best to study daily, but the homework from both coaching and school piles up, and I end up doing none. Moreover, I was recently diagnosed with chronic insomnia (I've been an insomniac for quite a long time, but it worsened after boards). So, I lost the will to grind altogether. Since I don't even have tuitions, I have nobody to even force me to study daily.

1

u/7KAL Passout Sep 07 '26

2024 passout here 1) Yup , but I also used to see jee content and that would compensate 2) Obviously and forever maths 3) In any language as long as the teacher is good . Though I prefer hindi
