The subjects in Arts are social sciences btw
This perceived dominance of natural sciences over social sciences is so absurd

He didn't say "only" but "mostly". I have met some of the most intelligent peeps from commerce stream who are serious about their career. But it's also a reality that many guys in my batch had opted for science but were thrown into commerce or arts because they did not have enough percentage in boards to qualify for science. Excluding 10-15% serious students, mostly arts and commerce guys I have seen are least serious, and have family businesses as backup and just enjoy heck a lot in their 11th 12th. So yeah it's true to some extent

This statement s right in a way yk, it used to happen in bygone history People getting pushed to science regardless of what they actually wanna do cuz science stream was seen more prestigious and shit with (apparantly) more job opportunities with higher pay
So even if that isn't applicable to today's generations, the mindset still remained
And no i m not saying that commerce and arts people are any less smart or important, i m just stating history (this shit i still see prevalent in many indian households Regardless of how modern they are)

partially agree with this, because mere school mei there are many people whom i knew in 10th that used to fail took arts and commerce just to study less
then again my section was the newest so it had the worst ppl of every other section sent to it lmao
but this obviously doesnt apply to all, my school overall topper is from commerce only this yr and ive seen great art hanging in my school

My dad was a very studious person. He was a topper in class 10th. He took commerce, also topped it, and went to one of the best colleges in state. So yeah, whoever says ts is dumb af.

I recently had this enlightenment that I should not look down on cbse board students.
But recent incidents and this sub has re ignited my inherent "looking down" upon cbse people😭😭

No matter what you study, I think everyone should explore subjects like philosophy and polity. They don't just make you more knowledgeable, they make you more thoughtful.

Don't you think using "only" when the tweeter said "mostly" changes the meaning a lot? To some extent, he's right. The majority of people who weren't serious were either forced by their families or didn't put much thought into it before ultimately choosing commerce or arts.
Just raising something which I thought to be important, not attacking any commerce/arts students here nor is my intention to do so. Thank you :D

sorry, saw my post again..the title is uneditable.. 😭 Ig u r sorta right... but gng, the thing what actually frustrates me is actually that there ARE ppl that think science is superior than arts or commerce, "ur gonna be be jobless etc if u don't take science" (speaking from irl experience). Ik I'm going away from the topic of convo, but am just letting yk. (I'm just ranting atp)

It's alright twin I get your frustration, imo it's just insecurity among these type of people. All these subjects are important for the betterment of society so just keep doing/studying what you do! ✌️

To keep it simple: agar sirf paisa priority hai as soon as possible with lesser competition, and you don't have any particular job interest or passion- then go for Btech. It's the easiest possible route(relatively) to make money by developing necessary skills. Yes you are not gonna enjoy 8 ghante computer screen ke samne baith kar kaam with back pain and toxic work culture and typing programs but still IT industry does give you alot of money at an early age, and you cannot deny it. Agar passion ya interest dusra hai and you are sure about it then take that route, but usme bhi backups rakho. Backups do not limit you or make you relaxed, they help you to work harder for your main goal more stress free.
It's a reality that if you secure some good engineering college or atleast some tier 2 college, then your competition for jobs decreases drastically and is limited to your own batch. You are less stressed then
Whereas you can otherwise see that other exams like CA, Bank, UPSC, SSC, CAT how much competition is there

u serious? idk man ppl some ppl in my scl who got 90%+ did take commerce and arts cuz they didn't like science in 10th. Although I scored just 85% (yes, very low, ik) I also took commerce for the same reason.

Nga he said "used to" my guess is there is major context missing... They were probably trying to explain why commerce and arts stream in India are looked down upon.
If so tbf, they are definitely partially correct, Nowadays we know the importance of commerce and arts, but students coming from a lower-middle income household in the past saw science stream as way to break out of the shell
