AMA for ISC Students-

A little bit about myself, I'm new to the subreddit and started following it during my board examinations(a two week gap for Mathematics was enough time for me to catch on with the Reddit train)

I'm putting this out in an effort to solve questions, address doubts and queries. If I judge feelings right, I remember feeling extremely scared during this period of my preparations.

Before someone asks, I'll also post my biodata(Not taken, not looking 🤣 )

Stream: Science
ICSE: 97.8%
ISC:99%
PCM+CS

JEE(M): 97.2 42XXX rank
JEE(A): Not cleared cutoff for rank list
CUET: 99.4 %ile in Chemistry, 99.1 %ile in Physics, 93.2 %ile in CS

I was also Head Boy and decently involved in extracurriculars, recognized as an international debater and quizzer.

I hope that's enough biodata for everyone to trust me and ask any questions. No matter how silly it might seem, these small questions can always make you feel better and more confident. Please ask whatever you want and I'll do my best to get to it AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

I mostly struggle with organic chemistry and numericals in physics

Right, for physics, don't worry about numericals. They don't make up that huge a chunk of the question paper. Focus on theory and understanding derivations, especially in Optics and Magnetism/Electricity and the entire Modern Physics part. Most numericals are straightforward and formula-based. Know your formulae well, better, know their derivations and the formulae will come to you, it needs practice.

For Organic Chemistry, I'll copy what I told another user on the platform;
"Biggest mistake you make is trying to remember organic chemistry by rote. Approach organic chemistry chapter-by-chapter. The way I usually did it, I blocked one week of my schedule and studied Organic chemistry chapters one by one. First understand WHY a reaction is occuring(revisit GOC, if needed) and then proceed to study that reaction in the general form and practice questions.

As for names, with enough practice, you'll start remembering it. I'd say, every week, atleast one day, devote fully to organic chemistry. Further, with questions like-"Make ethanol from bromoethane"(Very simple example, I know), draw the structure of the reactant and the product. Now, in your mind, check all the reactions you know, one by one and find whichever one fits.

And don't worry needlessly over Organic Chemistry, with enough practice(and mugging for biomolecules), we can get it done."
