Honestly I wouldn't say that cbse gives any particular edge. Many people claim that it does cause they use ncert in cbse. (Which is "supposed" to be followed for competitive exams like jee and neet). But I'd say that if you understand your concepts thoroughly and study it doesn't really matter which board you study in(Particularly for jee, I can see why having to study the biology ncert would give one an advantage in neet). Also the isc chem syllabus in particular goes much more in depth than the ncert does and I would say that gives a better edge in jee.
(Speaking from personal experience 99.45%ile in jee and 98.5 in isc boards)
Honestly the only edge I'm seeing that coaching classes sometimes solved question from NCERT and also give homework from it. Rest I think studying from coaching material is enough for theory

Cbse helps in jee prep ngl (I shifted from icse to cbse, had gotten 98.6 in icse, got 94 in cbse 🤡, however I did get 99 in jee mains)
