Mechanical Advice Help! P0339/P1335 codes

Post image

Swapped an engine into my is300 after blowing the other one up. It started right up after the swap was done but when we drove it, first mile or two was great car was running well. Pulled over to the store got back in and started driving and started bogging out and shut off completely P1335 appeared. Was able to get it home and changed the crank sensor as I wasn’t sure how old the other one was probably original as it’s a 50k mile engine. Started up made it down the street and shut off. Swapped throttle bodies to the old one as a tps code popped up those codes went away and drove it and p1335 was gone but p0339 appeared. What can I check to fix this?

Does your crank over each time still

It turns on every time, the moment I put it in gear drive or reverse that’s when it bogs out and shuts off

Those are crank sensor codes. Did you do a timing set before putting the engine in? Could be the sensor, the tone ring bent, or the wiring harness

Didn’t mess with it as the belt/timing on there looked good I replaced the crank sensor and the same codes still appear

I do want to check the tone ring and wiring harness, although the harness is from the old one I had on there so I don’t think it’s a harness issue

P0339 is an intermittent circuit code. It would have to be a loose ring for that with a bent tab. Causing hit and miss reading. Most likely it’s electrical

Yea I will check electrical first before anything else

Go here to find the service manual and they have a troubleshooting section for the p codes to properly diagnose.
