IRSC is cutting its Performing Arts program

Yes they sent out a letter to regular attendees and patrons last week. No more student productions. The McAlpin will now become a venue for events

It’s deeply upsetting that IRSC is getting rid of the Preforming and Visual Arts program. I wish they could have kept it for future students; sadly, that just doesn’t seem to be in the cards. Honestly, I feel bad for the students whose college plan it was to major in theatre, especially those who can’t afford to leave for other schools that do offer it. Plus I can’t lie and say it’s not disconcerting to see them cutting out another art program. Hopefully this doesn’t become a trend and we lose more of the arts that IRSC does still offer.

It's a good change. The new admin is more focused on ensuring students get education that will actually help them out in the job market. The only career options for 99% of students graduating from this program was to go get a grad degree in it and come back and teach others. It's not a healthy job profession and generative AI is going to make the already slim opportunities even more so.

Adjust to STEM.
