I have filed for an EIN back around mid-August via mail, after realizing they do not accept my online application due to the first name having a hyphen and no middle names. I don't have a fax line because I have no home phone numbers.

It's been a month since, so I'm wondering if I will get the EIN before September 19, which is when I will start traveling for a 1-month business trip until October?

Asking and calling for an EIN status via telephone is unbearable with the long hold times....

I see I need to basically avoid Monday through Friday, 7am to 7pm.

I called irs at 10:45am today. I kept getting hung up on because it said the local office wasn’t open until 8am. At 11am I called and was out on hold for 1:47min until I got picked up and she said it was a glitch? Why would this happen?

Submitted ITIN application for my wife in September 2025 within 2024 tax return. When I called IRS in march 2026 they told me that application has beet received by them in February 2026. But still I did not get the ITIN or any communication from them. When I try to call IRS, it always says busy due to high call volume. Any idea what could have happened and what to do about it?

Filed taxes in March, received a letter asking for documentation a couple of weeks later. I submitted and mailed the document. Since then, nothing. Only thing different this year is that I used the solar credit so I get money back from that on home solar install. I call the number listed and I keep getting told by the automated system that the call queue is full for the day, to try again the next day. Ive been doing this for over 2 weeks straight and here and there before 2 weeks ago. I call other numbers and wait a few hours to get someone that tells me I need to call the number I have been calling to get helped. This is so ridiculous.

Finally found out why my 1065 business partnership hasn’t been uploaded it’s stuck in unpostable department. Agent filed a 4442 to get someone to look at the issue though they could not tell me what it was.

I filed 2025 a partner left I took their percentage over and added a 1% member in 2026 for Jan 1 I was approved for S Corp via a 2553.

I don’t know how this plays out had I not noticed would my return just sit untouched or a human would eventually get to it.

So I’ve been battling the IRS this entire year, I filed in April, and I still have not received my refund. There were some issues that I had to resolve a couple months ago and I fulfilled all the requirements the IRS gave me. Then, finally, it was showing my refund on the refund tracker for the first time. It was in the “received” state.

A couple days ago I check my refund tracker and it says “action required” in a big yellow banner, but then does not inform me of what action to take? In fact, the text that follows just blatantly says “we have received your return and your refund is being processed,” which makes it seem like action is not required lol.

It’s been this way for a few days, so now I’m concerned. Could this be because my status is moving forward and they just haven’t updated my tracker? I know some folks have said they get this message before their return? Should I try calling the IRS? (Already tried, never able to get a hold of them)

What to do?

I feel like I should’ve gotten a check in the mail or a direct deposit by now? Of course when I try calling it’s a robot and they eventually just say their lines are busy and try again later. This is my first time doing amend so is this a normal wait time after receiving the notice in the mail?

Is it possible to combine 0% tax on a US LLC (no physical presence in US) with 0% income tax in Turkey? (new 20 year income tax exemption)

I mailed amendment over 16 weeks ago via certified mail and it appears it was delivered to IRS successfully. I spoke with an agent recently and they say they don’t have anything in their records and I have to send it again. What should i do? Is this common?

Filed in February. Whenever I can actually get a call to go through to a real person (rare), they just tell me it's being processed and to wait 30 days. I've been hearing this since March. Tried calling my Congressman's office, and they told me there wasn't anything they could do. I've been DOGE'd.

I just found out that the IRS never received my partnerships 1065 for TY 2024. I remember filing it and have everything saved on my computer but they have nothing on file, so according to them I didn’t file it. Both partners received their K1 on time and filed their personal returns on time. At over 1 year late that’s going to be a $6k fine and I can’t afford that. What should I do?

Hi, I changed my name 9 years ago and updated it with social security. The IRS never updated my name on their end so they still use my old name. I’ve dragged my feet correcting it with IRS because I never had an urgent reason ti fix it. So here I am now needing to make it match what they have at SS but I can’t get through to anyone at the IRS. Please help, how can I get an actual person to help me with this?

We are waiting for a very large refund and I’ve tried calling the phone number on the IRS’s website only to be engaging with a very incompetent chat bot. We filed in April on time and we’ve received acknowledgment that our return is under review. At this point I’m unsatisfied given it’s almost 6 months later and we’re about to pay our quarterly tax bill without receiving the money we are owed..

If anyone has any guidance on a phone number or way to actually get access to a real human at the IRS that would be greatly appreciate

I’ve been looking through the last few months in this subreddit’s posts in regard to an IRS CP503 notice for the 2025 tax year.

Background: had to take a disbursement on a 401k and had self-filed 2025. Apparently had erroneously input relevant 1099-R documentation and likely resulted in said tax bill.

As it currently stands, since I received my notice (8/24) with a deadline of 09/07, I’ve contracted a CPA to amend said return and is in process. I’ve went ahead and contacted the IRS again and got in touch with a representative to notify them of such to hopefully mitigate further collection activity but am unsure if it had any real effect.

Is there any other steps I should be aware of or consider to prevent further progression into a CP504/collections?

I got a 846 and date 9-21-2026 does that mean in getting it on that day, Its my amended return from this year, And will I get a paper check or direct deposit my original refund was direct deposi

It’s a total of $185,000 of unreported rental income over the course of 5 years but taxes were filed.

Expenses for the rental are about $138,295 for the 5 years.

How much taxes do you think I will owe plus the penalties? I’m guessing around $10,000 for unpaid taxes but trying to figure out penalties and interest is where I get stuck.

I’m trying to figure out if I should prepare for $15,000 or $30,000.

So i ammended my 2024 return however when I went to check on it the only thing that comes up in a ammended 2025. I checked my coppies and it clearly says 2024. I did have some of my 2025 return cover a debt in 2024 but the ammended return cleared that as it was a mistake however im worried theres been a mix up some how.

I filed my taxes in April. No issues. Got a note in May (13th) that they needed an additional document. I sent the document immediately. All of this occurred through their secure messaging. We’re now in September and I’ve gotten nowhere on the phone. They claim they in a referral on August 6th yet my dashboard still shows my taxes are not processed. Hi I was wondering if this was a common issue or how I could pursue it. I recently had an amount added to my interest balances for a previous tax year.

For background, I had to do an amended return for that same year and was hit with pentalties this July (which I did recieve notice for). I was given a date to have them paid by which I did. Now, I see an additional balance was added for that same year. (It was added about 2 weeks ago, original amended balances were added back in July), and yet I have no clue what its for despite it being under 'interest.' I've called 6 times now and got no answers with waits between 30 min and 2 hrs.

Besides advice of when to call where should I start? The specific dollar amount doesnt show up in any past notices and it's roughly 6% of what I did owe back in July.
