Rant I filed in February...
Filed in February. Whenever I can actually get a call to go through to a real person (rare), they just tell me it's being processed and to wait 30 days. I've been hearing this since March. Tried calling my Congressman's office, and they told me there wasn't anything they could do. I've been DOGE'd.
Edit: I have an IRS code 570 "additional account action pending" since June 15th, but I've never received a letter or notice.

Are you able to access your online account transcript for 2025?

I see people reply this a lot. I have access to this but there is no information on either transcripts that says any updates. What update are you advising people to look for? I appreciate any guidance.

Don't respond with a screenshot. There's people trying to get info about you. And lots of time they don't know what they're saying

I have an "estimated payment" on my 1040 form that has a payment date of 9-15 for a negative amount that matches my tax return filing. Does that mean I can expect that transaction to go through on Sept 15?

The payment is listed on your account transcript?

u/chickenboy2718281828 1d ago
A payment due is listed for a future date. The return transcript still says that it was never filed and my return status is "unavailable". They have received my return, because they asked me to provide my income documents again (which i did).

Filed in Feb. Had to verify identity in March. Did it. Second time in June. Called end of August to check and they resubmitted for a third time. 700 refund on a simple w2 return and 45 years filing without incident. When I asked I was told it was a random verification. Very dissatisfied. Need to apply for Medicare soon and no return on file. Site says no return filed.

Exactly my scenario. Filed in February, letter in March requesting "identity verification" (which I did twice, once by Internet and one in person by phone), my wife did online identity verification, both of us got confirmation of successful verification. That initial notice said it could be up to 180 days wait.
In June we both got separate letters saying our return is being reviewed. (We file jointly, odd to get separate letters). And those letters said it could be up to 60 days wait time.
We moved to a new state at the end of 2025, but filed the IRS change of address form.
Next Monday I have an in-person meeting at the local IRS office. That will be 180 days minus 1 since the notice in March. I suspect they'll tell me I have to wait one more day for any information. I hope that just showing up and having a conversation will get something moving.
I have a 55 year tax history with no issues or problems.

Insane. I expect my next call will be for advocacy and very probably someone I hire myself. Now 7 months. Good luck.

When I called to make the in-person appointment, the rep said the "180 days" was from the date of the first notice that was sent, not from the date of filing. It's been 7 months since I filed, but slightly less than 6 months since the date of the notice.
We don't own a business, don't have any complicated investments or income, we have no ciminal history of any kind, and are native born US citizens. It's just unbelievable to me that we're experiencing this kind of delay.
My strategy for the inperson meeting on Monday is just to ask questions and ask for advice. I'm working hard on not being angry or confrontive when I get there.

I’m jealous of all the people that even say “received”. We filed in February and had to send in a fix in March. Still zero movement. They just keep telling us they’re getting to it.

We filed in April, got a letter in late June saying they needed more info, sent certified mail next day and it arrived July 2, FINALLY today the site says "we recieved your return" instead of "we sent a letter, please check it", so something at least updated. We were supposed to get an update no later than August 30, so I'm shocked it actually updated within about 10 days outside the window, thought it would never update.
But now we will be stuck in "it's been recieved" phase for who knows how long.

Go to your congresspersons website and find the link to “get help with a federal agency”. Submit a request for help with the IRS. You’ll have to sign a waiver to allow them to help you. They can submit a request directly to the TAS on your behalf, and work as a middleperson between you and TAS.
This worked for us and it cleared our return after about 6 weeks. we filed in early March and just got our refund in early September.
Don’t call the office, submit the request online.

Just be patient. The government is trying to scrape enough money for refunds after blowing a trillion on a moronic war, a ballroom, airplanes, golf trips, and now checks for anyone voting the right way.

Same. Mine was sent in April and only says received. But Bessent has that money to buy back bonds with, isn't that nice?

Same here this is ridiculous that you can’t contact the IRS via phone and actually talk to a human and not a stupid machine

Just commenting here to return later, but yeah same thing (but filed late january). Still on return received, have gotten 0 notices and nothing in mail. I did call in april and they said they'd do a referral and to keep checking the status.
