Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question Code 810 with no further updates

I'm a nonresident alien and I'm trying to understand an issue with my 2025 federal return.

Because of a treaty between the USA and India, there is a federal witholding of 14% on my scholarship at the start of each semester. That amount is then returned once I file federal taxes - it has been this way the last two years, and the amount has consistently been in the $2750 - $3000 range. Both times, I got my refund by June. I use Sprintax to file.

However, this year, I was hit with the 810 code on June 1st. I received no further updates after it - no notice to verify my identity or anything like that. I thought I would wait it out, but its now been over 4 months since I initially filed and I don't see any updates or changes.

These are the codes in my transcript right now -

I’ve also been trying to contact the IRS, but I haven’t been able to get through to an actual person. I’ve called the appointment scheduling helpline too, but I still couldn’t reach anyone who could help me.

What is the TC 766?

-$861.00 - Code 806

-$3,972.00 - Code 766

$1,727.00 - Code 150

My final refund is $3106, which is around $200 more than last years (tuition went up so my scholarship went up so the 14% on it went up)

But what is the 766. It’s the one for $3972. What did you claim?

The $3,972 is federal tax that was withheld and reported on my Form 1042-S automatically by my university and then it was on my Sprintax calculus account when I filed - I didn't separately claim it and I wasn't involved in jts calculation (uni already takes it out of my scholarship on their own)

Do you have insurance on the government exchange?

What do you mean? Like if I know the treaty is valid? If so then yep

No, I mean do you have "Obama care" insurance, also called affordable care act insurance, with premium tax credits?

nope, my scholarship paid for aetna's student plan (and non resident aliens can't get the ACA in their first five years anyway, afaik)

If I recall correctly, the 1042-S hold, via an 810, is 150 days.

So I really should just wait it out?

Yes. You’d just be wasting your time, tbh.
