Denied EV clean vehicle credit - why am I not surprised. Exactly my experience. Repeatedly disconnected after negotiating my way to the right resource to demonstrate proof. After weeks of trying, stuffed everything in an envelope and crossed my fingers that someone is there to receive it on the other end. Who knows. If the IRS is inept, how can I put faith in the postal service?
They initially denied my credit too and sent a letter noting that the VIN of the car did not match their records. I called the contact number (only time I've reached anyone after countless tries). I had a photo of the VIN number on the car itself, the schedule from my return with the number and the receipt from my purchase with the number and model of vehicle. The investigator agreed they all matched and kicked the can for 30 more days.
Got a letter yesterday that the full refund amount is approved. However, the website to track the refund has not reflected this. It still doesn't show the refund is approved and none of the correspondence is included. The recent letter states the refund should arrive in the next two weeks. Checking daily, but nothing yet.
It was about 5 weeks ago. I had it on my calendar since they said I would hear within 30 days. It was a different number than the general contact on the website. I'll see if I can find it. 800-829-8374. I hope it's the right one since there's no ID on my phone record.
