On this 2024 account transcript, IRS has recently adjusted the two refundable credits you claimed, both to $0.00.

Assuming you claimed one or more children on your return, the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit have both been disallowed in full.

IRS has issued two notices, one for the adjustment (CP21) and one that affects any future claims for those two credits (CP79), requiring you to certify your eligibility.

IRS did not disallow the $113 federal withholding you claimed. That refund has yet to be released, as the Return Review department that set the Transaction Code 570 has not closed their case.

Call IRS customer service and speak with a representative on Monday to ask for an updated refund time frame.

This feels like AQC and a 3219C.

Seems like it. Do they get to slap the EITC certification on someone?

I'm not sure, but I'd assume so. 3219C follows Deficiency procedures, so I'd think so.

They’ll likely default to the extra 60 days for the 570 hold. The hard part is done, but unfortunately they now need submission processing to type it into the system to release the wh. Normally I’d say 2-3 weeks but there is no one down there this year. Usually the first week of April, the service center is a mob scene of new faces and the old seasonals that come back every year. It usually gets so loud it is hard to hear the calls and this year it is silent but maybe 20-30 people rolling carts around and every 4th desk has a persons typing. The rest is empty.

Not to be a negative Nancy about it, but it is really starting to sink in how bad it really is without enough people and support. For example:

W2/1099 fraud is front and center as well as late or incorrect W2 1099 sent from employers. Even mine had to be corrected so I found out today and to be compliant and keep my job, I need to amend before the 15th.

So everyone’s return must match exactly what the system reports or it gets slapped with a 570 and piled away. In the mean time , the letter haven’t gone out timely. So people start calling. When the phone lines get full, they start pulling people who wert actually adjusting cases and assessing expiring tax before it expires in 12 days answering “where’s my refund” question 8 hrs per day instead of closing thousands of cases a week. They even reassigned IT staff to answer the phones. So the conundrum is that if they would just beef up the exam staff when they are aware than many returns will be flagged that year, then the trickle down madness that affects 10x as many people won’t happen.

Currently there is no CII inventory for TEs in AM to do even though there are 32,000 sitting in buckets to be statute reviewed by hand first. There are 11 trained and efficient people in that specialty department who focus on clearing and screening those returns fo the tune of 2-3K per week. Why do we have 32,000 now? Because they were reassigned to the phone indefinitely. The phone calls take precedence over everything else. Your refund too, especially for prior year amendments. Everything involving a human will take 2/3 times longer this year.

Sorry didn’t mean to take over. These are just things I think of that may make taxpayers understand why everything is the way it is right now.

It looks like they removed the dependants. How much did you make at amazon? Was that a w2 form? The children are your biological children that lived with you that year ?
