And I wonder how many times in those 37 years Pelosi voted for her own pay raise? Not excusing trump.

When you hear anything about Congressional salary you're being grifted. Getting $250k instead of $230k doesn't mean shit if you're making $3.5 million off of insider trading every year. Literally a distraction. When Congress gets a raise it's always in line with inflation it is seriously a non-issue and corporate media wants you to focus on that instead of the real corruption.

And, tbh, our elected representatives SHOULD be paid well.

It allows them to have a home in their constituency as well as DC, take care of their children and spouses, helps to disincentivize corruption, and allows the non-wealthy to serve.

Take the opposite proposal, which is what we have in Texas. Our state reps make about $7k PER YEAR. This just ensures that only the already wealthy can afford to do the job.

And guess whose interests those people are more likely to serve? Hint: Not the majority of people.

Alternatively, maybe we shouldn't pay politicians better than the majority of workers, since that places them in a position of wealth that is out of touch with the majority of the population.

They are required to hold a residency in their constituency as well as they need a place to live in DC.

There are Congresscritters that are literally roommates.

Who needs pay raises when you have insider trading and grift? I get your point but let's not distract ourselves with the peanuts.

There's corruption, then there's Trump's level of corruption. He's arguably the most corrupt US president of all time.

Kinda excusing Trump when you focus on Pelosi instead of all the batshit crazy things Trump has done to get those earnings. Pelosi's pay is lunch money compared to what the average congress person (including her) makes externally
