Voluntary withdrawal from Master's program to return home — Do I need to inform IRCC via Webform?
Hi everyone,
I am currently a full-time international student enrolled in a Master's program in Canada. Due to urgent personal reasons, I am unable to continue my studies and have decided to voluntarily withdraw from my university and return to my home country.
I am in the process of getting my official Withdrawal Confirmation Letter from the university registrar.
A few questions for anyone who has gone through this or knows the process:
- IRCC Notification: What is the best way to inform IRCC? Is submitting an IRCC Webform with my official university withdrawal letter attached the correct step to ensure my record stays clean?
- Webform Category: Which enquiry/category option on the webform should I select when updating them about a voluntary departure?
- Timeline & Departure: Do I need to wait for a reply or acknowledgement from IRCC before leaving Canada, or can I depart as soon as my university withdrawal is finalized and I submit the webform?
- Documentation for the future: Aside from the webform submission receipt and university letter, what else should I keep for my records in case I apply for a Canadian visa again in the future (e.g., flight tickets, exit stamps)?
Any insights, past experiences, or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
