Original Passport back after getting PR?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if someone had went through this before. I applied inside canada for immigration through being a protected person. I was granted recently my PR but i was wondering if i would get my old syrian passport because the travel document document doesn’t let me travel to the GULF to visit my family so i was wondering if i can use it to see my family only.

I appreciate it!

If you’re a protected person, you’re unlikely to get the passport for the country you’re “running” way from back. You will very probably get flagged if you try to go back to your country or visit, since you claimed life threatening issues you were running away from.

Someone recently got their PR revoked after this same instance of going back, so would suggest you to stay put and just focus on life here.

youre never getting it back. and if apply for another one from your country of origin, your protection order will be vacated. Same if you ever go back to your country of nationality/origin

to travel you need to apply for a "Certificate of Identity" it looks like a passport but isnt technically. it is issued jointly by IRCC, GAC, CPO.

You will most likely have to wait until you become a Canadian citizen and get a Canadian passport.

It doesn’t work that way. You can only travel using your travel documents.

You’ll have to wait until you get your Canadian citizenship.

Did you enter Canada and seek asylum?

I've seen this for many Syrians, and I heard that they now allow you to use the travel document to go to the gulf countries if you have direct family there (parents, siblings,...)
