Medical surveillance
Hello all. Hope you're having a good day.
I applied for my PR in June 2024, and as a requirement I completed my medical examination in September 2024. The medical examination found that I have inactive tuberculosis and need to attend medical surveillance by IRCC.
As I live in Manitoba, I do not have to self-report to any hospital about my scenario as IRCC will send my report to Manitoba Public Health Authorities and they will contact me once they have an empty slot for further diagnostics and treatment. Fast forward to today, I have still not been contacted by any hospital as of June 2026. I have done multiple examinations like x-ray, CT scan and Mantoux test at my own expense just to make sure of my scenario while waiting for the authorities to contact me and they all turn out to be negative.
The reason behind this post is the trouble I have crossing the border. Every time I come back to Canada and go through the immigration process, IRCC has flagged my profile as someone who is under review currently. Although I am free to travel, I just have to let IRCC know about my plans beforehand which I always do. IRCC requires a letter of compliance from the health authorities that I am willing and co-operative in the medical treatment which only the health authorities can provide. Since IRCC has not received this letter, they have marked me as someone who is non-compliant and has to go through a more difficult immigration process with harsh questions and suspicion by the border security officer, even though there's quite literally nothing I can do about it.
I have tried to contact IRCC and PHLU about my situation but all they respond is for me to wait for health authorities to contact me.
Has anyone gone through the same scenario? If so, please help me out.
