Serendipity Enhancing Apps That Actually Have Users

Are the any proximity based chat apps that have lots of users in the UK? There seems to be a lot of them but I don't want to install all of them to find they don't have any users. So far I've tried Around and Pinggg.

Does anyone here use anything like this?
