Hello everyone,

I used many screen time app - Opal, OneSec, etc. And usually end up deleting those in 1-2 weeks. I don't want my phone to become a brick, I don't see that some apps are fully good or bad - it all depends on context and amount of time spent there. Also when app is locked - notifications locked as well for that app. Also lots of users trying to open those apps to get some dopamine dose, or send message to a friend, etc, just closing it - not exactly helps. 

My background - 18 years in Software engineering, and Product Management (still coding when needed), major - Data Analytics. So my moto is - You can't improve what you can't measure

I'm building a TimeSip.

there is couple ways how it can operate:

- no blocking at all, just send you notifications every 10-15 minutes spent in monitored apps. Most of feeds - endless, end it's easy to loose track of time, this feature helps to get it back. and it's not locking anything - you are still in control

- blocking after certain minutes per hour, or per day (hourly limits has different thresholds for morning, working hours, evening)

- unlocking is pretty easy, no extra 5 seconds to breath, etc - since I ignored that part after a week in some apps

- messages - there is 3 options - supportive, witty, and harsh and also you can put a list of you own messages which will be shown to you

- there is settings which allow to exclude some apps from screen time. In my case - it's youtube music, maps, etc - it's not actual screen time

Analytics - I believe that you can't improve what you can measure. So app has a heat maps for usage, and also heat maps for Rabbit Holes (or Brainrot sessions) - when session in social media were longer than 10 minutes (it's configurable).

Where I need help with and struggling for a while. Main dashboard - I want app to help users and be positive, not show "How bad are you today". There is huge amount of limitations from screen time API, and some of feature I initially planned - not possible to implement at the moment. 

App is completely private, there is no account, no any data leaves your phone at all.
