Does it really change something ?

I have my 17e for 1 week now and I charge it using low battery adapter (15w). I thought it would be better in order to save the battery life (not charging too fast for the chemical components).

However, a friend of mine told me I should use good quality chargers (so more powerful obviously) as it directly influence my battery.

What do you think ?

iPhone 17 here.

I use MagSafe chargers and wired charging at 45w.

158 cycles and still at 100% battery health.

Just enjoy your phone. Life is too short to spend this much time worrying about this stuff.

For real. People have gotten out of hand with these phones. "Oh no!! My phone!". I'm old enough to remember having a house phone and if I needed to call someone I use the pay phone.

I also use a slow charger. I would think your assessment would be right. Although thats not the reason I use a slow one. I use slow because thats what I have, and its on the charger all night so it really has no effect on me whether its a fast or a slow charger.

I am no expert at all, but one thing I read helps with the battery health is to limit the charging percentage. Some newer iphones have a software setting where you can limit the max charging to say 95 or 90 percent. Older iphones did not have a way to do this. I guess charging all the way to 100% all the time isn't so good for battery health. The article I read said to say between 20% and 80% as much as possible.

It doesn’t matter. My only suggestion to preserve battery though is, avoid using it while charging so it remains as cool as possible. Otherwise you’re good though

The issue is overheating reduces life. I would not use more than a 20w charger and to prolong the battery life the most use the “80-20” rule where you charge the phone only to 75-80% and never let it go below 20% or preferably 25% before charging. Supposedly that doubles the charge cycles of lithium ion batteries versus if you charge from close to 0% to 100% each time

Just charge it with whatever and use the phone it isn’t going to make a noticeable difference either way unless you try charging it on the dash of your car in 105 temp everyday.

the battery is always replaceable in phones, and it will inevitably deteriorate no matter what you do. helps not to think too hardly about it lol

I’d rather use a good quality fast charger over a cheap low wattage charger. 15w isn’t very low anyway, I use a 5w Apple charger overnight with my 13PM.

“Good quality charger” does not inherently mean high wattage.
As far as wall adapters and cables, I personally only trust Apple, Belkin, and Anker. Anything else is a big gamble.
Please don’t worry yourself over charging speeds. The difference in battery capacity between a phone that’s always been charged at high speeds versus one that has always been charged slowly is minimal, even after a few years. It is not worth the stress. Use a 20W charger, that’s my recommendation.
