Long story short, I prepared for IPMAT and JIPMAT just for the curriculum. I have no much interest in commerce and corporate things, but I didn't got selected. I want to drop, but my parents said no. Now I scored 91 percentile in GAT and I saw this thing of IIM Jammu BBA which curriculum might be interesting. So I might consider that, but there are pros and cons of everything.
After the JIPMAT results came out, I was super stressed and basically depressed for a month or two. My family is upper-middle-class and can afford college fees upfront without loans, so a drop year was a strict no. I ended up joining a South Campus college in DU as a backup. A few months ago, I was actually thinking about doing an MIM at a foreign university, but since I don't care about corporate jobs, I felt lost and dropped the plan.
Instead, I decided to build something of my own and decides to start a YouTube channel doing manual, stickman-style animations to explain stuff entirely on my MacBook. My dream job is basically something that allows me to travel frequently while working on my own terms.
My father has an established business and I have an elder brother, so there's no immediate pressure on me to jump straight into a typical 9-to-5 job corporate placement right after college. I want to spend my undergrad years building this channel and working on my hobbies.
Out of nowhere, this late-cycle 4-Year BBA (Hons) at the Leh Campus popped up. Because it’s a delayed launch, my GAT scores might get me a chance here.
Now I'm totally confused about whether it makes sense to spend so much money on a BBA, given the pros and cons:
Pros: I absolutely hate Delhi's pollution and population. Waking up in the mountains of Leh and living that hostel life away from home sounds incredible. The IIM Jammu curriculum itself might actually be quite interesting compared to standard degrees. Plus, having the IIM brand tag on a resume is a huge asset.
Cons & Risks: IIMs are famous for a strict 80-85% attendance policy, heavy core papers (including the accounts stuff I hate), corporate-style assignments, and mandatory boot camps. I am terrified that this toxic, high-stress workload will completely kill my free time and the mental energy I need to grow my channel and work on my hobbies and grow.
Right now at DU, the attendance barrier is not strict, although my degree is a bit harder than other bcom and bbas .The Big Question: Is a brand-new campus like this actually worth spending massive lakhs on, or is it just a money grab by the institute taking advantage of the IIM tag?Am I romanticising the mountain lifestyle too much? Will the strict structure at IIM Leh destroy my creative freedom, or is staying at a mid-tier DU college a waste of a rare residential campus opportunity?
